Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 (18.12.2) discussion

Judging by the release notes for 18.12.3 the new Adrenalin driver is as buggy as hell. As I said earlier this should have been released as a ‘beta’ driver so people would know what they were getting into.

The big sticking point for me is the fan curve and the fact there is no option to manually limit the fan speed as is present on the older drivers. Surely they could have made the fan curve an option and kept the original fan speed controls as default?

NWR during the brief time I had the new driver I did notice the temps go up as this is when it kicked the fan into max speed which never happened on the older drivers. Maybe this is one of the settings that doesn’t always work on Vega as per the latest release notes.

I’m going to give these drivers a wide berth for the time being until they squash a lot more of the bugs.

The driver fan speeds have zero to do with the temperatures going up. MY fans, my cooling are not controlled by the drivers or the card, as they are all on a loop, controlled by my bios and or cooling software. They have changed something that is causing the card to run hotter outside of the cooling features. Even at idle, the temps are 1 to 2C warmer than they every have been, and that is with my room 10 degrees (Fahrenheit) cooler now than in the summer. (it is currently 69F in my room, and in the summer it hits 78F at times). Yet, this last summer, my card never was warmer than 42C under full load, prior to updating to the new drivers, with it cooler this time of year, I never went above 41C and that was during bench marking. Now, after the driver update, I hit 48C to 50C, and the hotspot Never went above 80C ever and usually bounces around 70 to 75C (which is still high, under water, but I have done everything short of buying a different water block to elevate that), but now it bounces around 85C to 91C and has maxed out at 95C since the driver update. There is something funky with this driver where temperatures are concerned that has nothing to do with the fan controls. It's also not my loop, or my CPU temps would be effected. They are the same.

AMD's fan control and default fan profile is pretty poop tho. 48% max @ 75c is pants on another persons head retarded. Then again it could be the kids who are wrong :sherlock:

EDIT:
48% not 38% but sometimes it doesn't hit that and the card goes over 75c and the fan speed bounces around.

 18.12.3 nice and stable in PUBG with my Fury. The 18.12.2's seem'ed to randomly crash.
