Okay, ive had my radeon 8500 retail for a while now and I am using the 6043s and have an 8kha+ mobo with the latest bios with athlon 1600xp. Im also using the drivers for my sound card that, I guess, XP came with..after installing XP audio worked, so i left it alone..

I know that I cant play Max payne..freezes after 5 minutes. I can mostly play UT although it sometimes freezes..I cant play MOH:AA although I remember before I uninstalled it that I was able to play it a lot longer from the beginning then I could when i loaded my saved games brought over from 98. Although that doesnt mean that it wont freeze after a while longer if I played it longer from the beginning.

Now i just picked up Heroes of might and magic and I was going through the turorial and it too froze. This was the only game so far that says its compatible with XP and it still froze.

What is going on..what else can I do :( I really want to play games nad i know that some have had good success with the radeon and 8kha+

I have read posts in the tech. forum about RMAing my radeon but I got it from Best Buy not too long ago, but im sure they would take it back..should i give it a shot..others have taken theirs back and now they have no problems..

Please help if you can thanks..

Heres some of the things i found that would crash a few games or applications with my 8kha+ and Xp.

No via updates, and for safe keeping no updated xp sblive drivers with the updater i get my drivers from creatives site with the always heard cracling sounds with the ms Xp udated sb drivers.

And most importantly ive been wiping my hard drive clean with the hardrive disk utility and 98 boot disk for system files rebooting. Changing the 98 boot disk for the one i downloaded from microsofts site at reboot after reformating the bare drive. Its a 6 floppydisk reboot file that way non of the junk i get from previous windows installs is sitting on my harddrive after a restore.
'Repeatedly i get old folders from 98 or Xp when i use the xpCd to restore windows from a fresh start.'

Might want to wipe everything and save those games files to a second harddrive or something.
And double check to see if you have the onboard audio disabled.

Well, I do know its a fresh install of XP and as far as the VIa drivers are concerned, im still using the same ones. On board is disabled, but im using XP's audio drivers, not my sound cards..although I highly doubt that has anything to do with anything. If I make a trip to best buy in the next couple of days, perhaps ill just take my card back anyway.couldnt hurt..
