Pixel 6

Wow that kind of sucks. Wouldn't have guessed the Pixels lacked something I basically rely on.

I've had a Pixel 4 since launch. The eye thing was fixed very quickly. I don't recall it being months.

I've also been forced to go to a Pixel 6 because of a drop, and the inadequacy of the Google phone protectors.

It's more than quite a bit backwards in terms of everyday usability. The Project Soli stuff worked so well, and so quickly that going back is just a downgrade.

I'd also like to say, as usual, Pixel phones have the best camera on Android. Miles above my OnePlus 9 Pro if for no other reason than the damn shutter lag that thing had.

Sony Xperia Pro-I would be the best camera on Android, expensive as f though :bleh:

Sorta... Sony stumbled on 2 of that phones big features. While it has a 1" 20mp sensor. It can only use 12mp of that sensor because of the physical setup. Meaning it's really not a 1" sensor as it can only ever use 1/1.3" of it. Then it's dual aperture. Which sounds great, except it only opens up to F2 and closes to F4. Which is kinda slow compared to most top tier phones being in the sub F2 ranges and allowing in more light.

Luckily the camera software is  absolutely awesome. With stuff other phones can't do and just and awesome setup for shooting.

I'll take the Google experience over slightly better camera capabilities... call screening, auto hold waiting, prompt updates are enough to win me over. Plus I haven't been able to kill the battery in a day yet, my OP9P died every single day if I didn't charge it when I got home. The Pixel 6 Pro is by far my favorite phone since my Note 9.

Love my new Pixel 6 Pro. Upgrade from my Pixel 3XL. I just wish the fingerprint reader was on the back, other than that, it's tits.

never get a sony phone for the camera, they cost more then their mirrorless apsc that are tons better for photography, I do like my pixel 6 though, but that gaming dashboard is a POS and google needs to let us disable it completely

The sensor in the Sony Xperia Pro-I is the same sensor as the Sony RX100 MkVII. A camera that isn't much cheaper than the phone. I do like Sony doing crazy stuff like this. It has a niche and it's expensive because it's targeting a niche. I can appreciate that.

Yes you get more out of the actual Sony RX100 Mk7, but I can totally see scenarios where the phone makes more sense.

Yeah it's easier to carry but I suppose if you want better photos, getting the mirrorless would be a better choice, hell the Sony Alpha ZV-E10 is pretty cheap for APS-C, you can just grab a small APS-C lens

I don't disagree at all. But if you vloging, or traveling light, the phone is a compact beast as you don't have to carry anything else.

Bumping this thread with a bit of an update.

After getting hit with some big expenses I sold my P6P to recover some money. Sold in less than 12 hours over craigslist for $750. I lost money on the deal over what I paid for it this is true. Let's not go into further detail there please. :bleh:

Since everyone needs a phone I ended up getting a Pixel 4 XL clearly white off amazon.

Now that I have face unlock and it works surprisingly well I don't really see myself going back to a fingerprint sensor again if I can avoid it. I can even unlock the device with a mask on as long as I just briefly pull it below the level of my nose.

Pixel 4 XL had some issues when it launched from what I've read. At this point though the experience has been positive. Not really missing my 'old' P6P.

The Pixel 4's face unlock stuff was magical. It was done even before you had finished picking up your phone.

Soli is actually amazing.
