Once upon a time.....

There were 2 animals a tortise named INTEL and an rabbit named AMD.

These two animals hated each other and decided they should compete against each other. Each began with running the benchmarks over and over again. The Amd ran as fast as it could then it took a break..... The Intel tortise took it slow however coming along as fast as it could. The Amd took many breaks and decided to take a nap on the raceway. The tortise did not stop and kept on going untill it had reached right before the finish line. At that time AMD woke up and saw he was late he ran his fastest and over heated. At that time Intel had already reached the finish line and won. Intel had been slower but in the end had one. Amd became a loser and was rejected by all of his friends.

It just comes to show you Intel may be slow to an Athlon, but in the end it will win the race.:D

You might be right in this!

But today the fastest available AMD cpu is faster than the fastest available Intel cpu, in benchmarks. When Intel has won the race, todays AMD cpu´s will be old stuff. Thats why people buy AMD cpu´s today, when/if Intel wins the race, we will by Intel cpu´s, nothing wrong with that.

My point is that it does not matter if the cpu´s are called Intel or AMD, as long as it´s the best available cpu on the marked.

I sure hope that nobody wins this race, this way we get better and cheaper cpu´s. I think almost everybody agrees with the positive effect that competition can have, even the AMD and Intel fans.

In short: All this talk about "I love AMD" or "Me&My Intel" is meaningless. Nobody wants one company to erase the competitor, if the result has a negative effect on the buyers wallet.

LOL! Nothinglike the old AMD vs Intel arguement. Cute story by the way.

Anyway, first off I hope to god neither company goes out of business because competition is GOOD! And second, I prefer to think of AMD and Intel as Apples and Oranges. They are similar yet different, they are both CPU fruit, and EVERYBODY prefer one over the other. Oranges make a tastier drink, apples are better for cooking pies. So each is better for one thing over the other.

Did that make any sense?

And to all you apple juice enthusiasts, I DEEPLY appologize. LOL!!!

On a side note, I'd LOVE to see soem new choices. Why have only 2 big guys? I'd like to see Alpha come out with a new chip, i'd like to see more RISC architecture like a PowerPC chip for PC's, lets see what VIA can do with its new CyrixIII, hell even a Microsoft Brand CPU although evil would be really neat to try out just for kicks. heh

You think Cyrix is better? If your serious, please tell me more I'd love to hear why. Seriously. Are you running the new Cyrix III i havent seen anyone try it yet?
