I know this is not about a Radeon but I downloaded the XL R8R demo from mad onion and ran it under Win2k and ME with a G400 and dual clereys @ 466, same computer just swapped HD's(and it ran great except it shuddered in 2 spots) and I swear it ran better under Win2k the spots where it shuddered was not as bad in Win2K as ME. Almost every newer game(released within the last 6 mo that is) I play seems to run better under win2k than 98 or ME to me.(and I admit I am biased I don't like any 9.x OS's, this comes from having to deal with them on a network in a business environment). I keep reading benchmark after benchmark that shows 98 and ME have consistently better frame rates than 2K with any video card. but win2k still seems to run smother to me. I do however plan on retiring my trusty G400 with a 64 mb Radeon if any retailers ever get any in stock.

Well thats my rant for now and mabey some time soon I will have my shiney new Radeon 64 and dual PIII 800's

I dont like Windows 9x anymore. I made a dual boot for win2k when it came out. Its been 4 months since the last time I went into win98. I have officially kicked the habit. I cant complain about frame rates though, for an OS that was not meant for gaming, it sure does scream. I get maybe get 5fps less in Win2k than I did in 98. For the added stability, and application speed, thats definitely worth it. Now if I could only get my hardware to work in it...J/K!

Hi,

Well seeing as this is off topic anyway it doesnt really matter what I think, but I really dont like Win2k as regards a gaming platform. There were a few things I would have switched over to Win2k for, for good, but there are so many other things which just dont work yet.

I dont like games under Win2k, my DVD's dont play properly, and to be frank I dont leave my PC on 24/7 so stability doesnt really bug me too much. My machine rarely crashes anyway with 98SE... (p.s. I am pretty familiar with Win2k cause I do use it at work a lot, so dont put it down to user error ;) ;) )

That said I have installed Win2k server cause I am gonna start work on my Win2k MCSE in a few days.

Oh, and my 50th post... woohoo :)

You probably see better performance under Win2k because Win2k takes advantage of dual proccessors where 9x/ME does not.

Whoa, weird...my DVD's play like a champ. The rip faster in win2k also for DivX creation! Of course I own the DVD's though...
