Nvidia Shield 5.1 Audio Out Issue

I've got an issue with my Home Theatre setup and hoping someone can shed some light on the issue.

Got an Nvidia Shield Pro, wanted one for sometime and decided to pick one up in September. Bestest idea ever, its awesome. Mainly use it for Netflix and have not had an issue.

Wanted to watch some older movies and my Sister In law wanted to Halloween Town.... :rolleyes: I've been wanting to do more of a digital library and move away from my BluRay collection so I decided to give Google Play Movies a shot. Heard good things, so I bought all the Halloween Town **** on there and picked up some movies for myself all in HD or Ultra HD of course. But here's my problem. Everything only outputs in 2.1 Audio.

I have a 7.2 Setup, Netflix works, my PVR works and my Oppo works just fine, but when I use the Google Play movies even though it states 5.1 support I only can ever get 2.1 Stereo. So its not the Nvidia shield as every other app works, let it be Plex or Netflix.

I've checked within the settings menu for the Google Play Movies but there are only two options and neither has to do with audio.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Yes, buy an Apple TV 4k.
 
Found out what was causing it finally and yes its the Google Play Movies app. The app can not passthrough ARC over HDMI requiring an optical cable to do it. Unfortunately there is no optical out on the NV Shield Pro.

If the movie has this symbol in the description (o) lol then its supposed to be a multi-audio movie. Unfortunately it only gives 2.1 Stereo still.

Picked up an Apple TV on Saturday, spent about an hour setting up my old Apple ID as I forgot it and had to call Apple to get everything reset....

Comparing both the Apple TV 4K vs Nvidia Shield Pro 2017, for functionality, ease of use, quality and support. Apple TV 4K wins hands down. ITunes movies are easy, bought Atomic blonde, ran in 7.2 no issue.
