NOLF display anomaly

during the "movie" scenes, I'm getting dark bands at the top & bottom of the screen, that go away during the regular game play mode. Tried various settings in the options menu without much sucess. Any hints?

System: Athlon 1.3, 512 Mb ram, Win2K sp2, retail 8500, 6043 drivers
 
I believe that's called 'letterboxing' ... it changes the screens aspect ratio to reflect that of a movie ... lots of games use it during cut-scenes. Nothing is wrong with the game.
 
no, the dark bands aren't solid, you can still see the scenes but it's like looking through dark sunglasses along the top and bottom 1-1/2" or so of the screen.
