I really hoped this new release offered a fix for the WinXP problem of not having an "Optimal" refresh rate setting like Win9x/ME. And no, I'm not using any third party program like Refreshlock to lock it down! That is uncalled for. Microsoft is pointing fingers and ATI is pointing them right back! This needs to get fixed ASAP. This bug sucks big time!

I agree but ATI´s finger is the one to look at.This is a Microsoft issue and I´ve read it´s to be included in a future fix.

YES! ATi should include some tweak tab in drivers like REFRESHFIX or they shold buy the solution from that russian guys who made ATI REFRESH FIX tool !!!

I had to install RefreshFix to get CounterStrike to work at 1280x960. I agree with MURCer_BorG, I wish ATI would include a Refresh Rate by default.

Other than that, the new drivers work great.

There's a fix in route included in DX9. Sort of. The refresh rate used in games is the same used in the desktop, so if you have a 1600x1280x85hz, then your games will run at 85hz, even if you play at 1024x768 and can use a higher refresh rate. It's a good step forward however...

SP1 for XP, SP4 for 2k will fix this

SP1 for XP, SP4 for 2k will fix this

Firingsquad.com has an article that claims the 60hz refresh issue will be corrected in the upcoming service packs for these OS's. The dates for the SP releases are "late summer"

I use RefreshLock to fix this for a long time and it work. And I think it is Microsofts fault as it eorked just fine in Windows 9x with all cards and in Windows 2000/XP it is broken for all cards.

The problem with ATI providing their own fix is that suddenly they won't be able to get WHQL Certification for the drivers from MS. However, this shouldn't prevent them from releasing a separate fix .

Has NVidia released their own fix for this problem? I thought that the NVidia users had to rely on 3rd party fixes as well.

I've tried most of the solutions out there, including several versions of refreshfix which tanked my system on numerous occasions... kept coming back to refreshlock. It's the most guilt and worry free tool out there to take care of any refreshrate issues.
