delete or rename the gimme.dll file in the directory where you isntalled the game. You could also adjust your pagefile so that the min & max values are the same, that fixes it too.

Thanks a million! It's working now.
BTW, I did run a search, but just on this particular forum-- only got two hits. And since I just now got XP, I wasn't follwing XP issues very closely before. Anyway, I'll try to do better searches in the future-- if it was there I shoulda found it.
