New vehicle

Volkswagen Tiguan, maybe? They are nice. My buddy has one and it's looks damn good for a compact SUV.

I truly don't understand the status crap, especially when the one who cares the most about it does not contribute to the means of acquiring said status.

Get the vehicle that works the best for your use and isn't going to empty your wallet for maintenance. Porsche sounds great until you're paying through the nose for every little thing that goes wrong.

KAC, what about Cadillac?

The more I look at them them more I like them.

Underrated for sure.

I'm even looking a coupe and never thought I'd go the car route again./

CTS V-sport.

Very poor resale here. Will probably loose 60% value in less than 2 years. Also very high price. In used market can’t find many as it is not sold much here except the largest SUV which is mostly for corporates and probably will have 100K+ miles within 2-3 years of operation.

If it were me getting into the more luxury segment I'd only go with CPO..some places will still have a good extended warranty on some vehicles...some will allow you to purchase an extended warranty that can (depending on the brand) cover most things.

If it were my money I'd get an Acura RDX...I really would like one of those but can't stomach the full price and the used ones around me go very fast so there's limited stock.

If you wanted to save more money and get the cheaper vehicles while still being nicely built and reliable you can get a Maxda CX-30 or CX-5 with the turbo engines...they have plenty of pep, handle really well and have a nicer build with more luxurious interior than most vehicles in its segment

Why do you care about resale value if you had your last car 12 years?

KAC'S decision making never makes sense.

He'll end up getting a Land Rover Velar or something.

-Expensive
-Status worthy
-Depreciates like a rock
-As reliable as a broken clock.

Checks all his criteria.

I don't think KAC is going for status but I do get the sense that his wife is. This is based on the fact that he's driven a 2009 Edge for 12 years.

Because he wants to move to the US in the nearish future and needs to afford daily maid service.

So you actually gonna buy something this time or is this gonna be another one of your tire kicking threads?

Still tentative. I need a couple of answers before I indulge like how long am I staying in Dubai vs. moving west etc.

Decided to hold off on this until I get the result of my application to the role in Netherlands.
