200-300 dollar range
as small as possible
good image quality at high iso
purpose: taking pictures of textures and reference material.

Damn those are all half a grand. Well if it's in good condition I don't mind it being used. I'll check local stores for used ones and on craigslist

Yea you might have to dig, but used ones can be found under $300, the LX7 being the easiest to obtain. I kind of hate craigslist for camera hunting as everyone thinks their $500 camera is still worth $500 2-3 years later.

No recommendations here cause I just looked up only DSLRs. But make sure you check dpreview for their reviews or the user reviews. Also a lot on bhphoto.com. DXOmark has sensor tests for a lot of cameras...a few are the small cams.

Well I decided to go with a dslr, got a used (good condition) 5d mk1 just like I had a few years ago. Thought to myself if I'm gonna spend half a grand for a camera to just take pictures of textures might as well add a little bit more and have a quality product with more options. Photography thread, I'm back baby!
