Well, I used to own a 5770 and was very pleased with it. I gamed at 1920 x 1200 and for the most part it did very well. Some games I did have to turn some settings down, but that's to be expected.

Never owned a 7770 myself, but my good friend does and it's a very good little card. I'd say more often than not it'll trade blows with a single 5870. Haven't ran any benchmarks to verify that but just a rough estimate of performance.

That 7770 is a definite upgrade from the 5770 though. I'd sell the 5770 and grab the 7770 for sure. :)

thanks for the advice, would love to see another opinions from pros as well , Note : I don't run games at 19xx X xxxx I only prefer them to run at 1366 or even 1024.. but i'll see some benchmarks myself.

Well at those resolutions you're more CPU limited. You can try things like cranking in-game settings and AA to see if you can push more of the load back onto the GPU.

Either way the 7770 is a definite upgrade- I've seen it's performance abilities first-hand and I owned a 5770. I really don't think you'll be disappointed, especially since you wont be paying full price for the 7770. :)

price seems like a fair one for the card but you'll not see a huge bump in performance going from 5770 to 7770. you should upgrade to a 7770 if you want the better perf/w (it uses a lot less power at idle, and full load) and want the extra features (Dx11.1, better tessellation perf, improved eyefinity, accelerated divx playback, gpu accelerated winzip etc).

hmmm, to tell the truth i'm not a 24/7 gamer, play games only when life allows it. so I'll see if I had any 9000 offer else I'll pass. Thanks mate.

In gaming, the 7770 is only a slight improvement over a 5770!!

I did see some benchmarks a while ago and the 7770 was only about 15% better in most games and even lost one or two to the 5770, so I don't think it would be a big enough upgrade!!

I'm looking at upgrading my 5770 but to make it worth the noticeable difference, it would need to be at least a 7850!!

yup man, Holy Cow 7850 is too expensive for me I'd rather go for ps3 then when I'd have to upgrade this. thanks all for your suggestions.

yes the 7000 series as a whole is a bit expensive, more so with the 7800 series with the 7900 series priced fairly competitively.. I guess we can blame nV for not providing adequate competition to drive down pricing ;-).. the 7800s are incredible overclockers.. with the 7850 getting upwards of 50% OCing (800 mhz to -> 1200mhz) but as mention pricing is still way to high for a low end enthusiast part, imho the 7850 should be $150-200 and 7870 $175-250 however its obvious with the recent restructuring at AMD turning into a profitable business is paramount (as with any company) more so then being a market darling.

probably the BEST deal going atm is the 6950 @ $190 here:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102987 , however that does push the price upa bit from the 7700

That 6950 is a great deal but as a replacement of a 5770 for a guy running a Core i3 and gaming at 720p, and not all that often, it might not be a good spend.

One thing to remember is that the 7770 will keep getting better and better as the drivers mature, whereas the 5770 has hit it's ceiling.

With that said, I still love my 5770's. The few games I am forced to run on just a single 5770 run pretty good with just a few settings turned down.

I think whatever you decide to do will be a good decision. Keeping it won't really come back to bite you in the ass, neither will upgrading to the 7770. Either way you win!

I'm still runnig 5770's and playing at 1920x1080 and enjoying it. However, even with two of them I can't max out all my games. Metro 2033, BF3, Tribes Ascend & RAGE all come to mind as games I can't max out. So if the 7770 is barely an upgrade over a single 5770, I would wait it out if you can :)

p.s. Of course keep in mind the rest of my system is dated as well.

Hi friend, i are a long time members here and your correct. Much heat it gives out causing running in problems. Truth it really is and not problems worth it.

true and false, yes heat = bad (more or less) however pretending it's an AMD specific "problem" is a falsehood,. at stock clocks Intel do run cooler however once over clocked both AMD and Intel get hot real quick.. look around on several forums and you'll see several 100s of posts from various sources stating just that .. again BOTH Intel and AMD... type into google "Ivybridge" and Heat Issue will auto populate.
