Mr. B + all others re: html code, images

It has come to my attention that we have the best forums out there, period. Now that we are the best I would like to suggest some improvements that could make us even better.

1) Roki, I like what you've done with the links on the main page.

2) Although we have marginal html support on these forums (text wise) I would like to see this idea implemented further. For example I would like the <img src> tag available for use by forum members.

I would appreciate it if both moderators and forum members posted what they think about these issues and others.

Thank You,

B. Smith

Using Images in post's is something that I have always liked. I have it enabled on my forum since it can also help to show people something visually without a link. I do not know why it is not enabled here....

I do agree that this forum is the best I've ever dealt with.

I hate those forums that make you click on EACH and EVERY FREAKING message to read it. Loads of wasted loading times. Case in point: B.Net's forum.

However, this forum is the easiest to navigate, shows you everything you need to know, and is even somewhat customizable which is always a plus.

Jim: I like the thought of having pictures to help set us apart and express something more with our posts, however, I was wondering if that might make things a little slower on the board. All those people who come for a week or two might slow things a tad. Maybe we should allow for html tags only after a certain status is reached? Maybe only for those with 100+ posts?

Dunno...just thinking it might make things a little easier for the admins.

Hey. I think it's a great idea just don't want to see abuse around.

Let's test it out. Here's the car I'm currently interested in

yellow_angle.jpg

the image code is [ img ]"http://urlhere.com"[ /img ] no spaces between the the brackets and img. Had to put it there otherwise it would access the code

You can read all the vb forum code here

All right, let's test this out...

Hey! it works!

Now if we can get those interesting html fonts enabled things will be a little more spicy around here!

Thanks Mods.

Ya it's the 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec V!!

great overall sports sedan for the money imo.

Pocket rocket but practical. I'm a bit of a ricer! none of that sticker **** though!!!!!!!

Not too bad at all. 180hp, 6-spd transmission, 17" wheels... and a kickin' stock stereo.

Its quite the change from the past. I still remember my mom's '87 Sentra [RIP]... It had a crappy AM/FM (no tape) stereo, 13" wheels, and a neck-snapping 69hp (maybe 70hp if the humidity and temperature were favourable). I did get it up to 150km/hr (with a stiff tail-wind... on a slight decline) on the freeway once; though it mysteriously developed a blown engine seal shortly afterwards.

The major problem with img src is abuse. The folks on the forums are all pretty cool, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

It can be really irritating to have 107 folks reply to a thread each with a picture or two in the signature. It slows load times (not a prollem for me, but can be for others) and fills threads with an aweful lot of junk.

However, it is really nice when say referencing benchmarks or error messages and such.

Lets hope folks don't abuse it and it oughta be nice to have images enabled again.

Yeah, there shouldn't be any pics in signatures. (I'll turn mine off I swear.) Since that'll just screw loading times with only a couple posts.

The images should be used sparingly, and only where appropriate/needed.
