It starts up. but once I get to the options screen, I see the mouse pointer. and the game hangs.

Exactly what do u mean? Need more info. like is it crashing on you? What is your system specs..stuff like that. As for me, yes I got it to run...pretty funny ass game to me.

Almost certainly SB Live problems. I can't get the game to run with sound on. There is a switch to disable sound listed somewhere in the game's readme which will let you try that out. I don't know how to actually FIX the problem though. What is weird is that the demo worked fine for me.
 
Your using the latest patch aren't you (I think 2.0 ... well, its something with a 2). I had that game sent next day air because I had been waiting oh so LLOONNGG. I loved MDK and shiny was beating out id at the top my list of kick a$$ developers. When it arrived on my doorstep someday in late march I almost wet myself with anticipation (sorry, I get excited about games). Popped that cd in (thinking the box rocked during the s l o w install, and then I was greeted to a 10 fps joyfest on a viper2 with a 500 k6-2. Neither patch helped. I then borrowed a friends voodoo 3 and finally beat the game with that b/c it was actually playable. Sorry for going on, but to answer your question my sys specs are posted below and the thing runs great (especially with AA). I'm using the newest beta drivers on my radeon. About your sblive, I've got an x-gamer(value) and you HAVE to get the latest drives for you card, or otherwise weird stuff happens. I'm using me but it workes in both. For Win ME you can get the new livewire here http://www.soundblaster.com/scripts/download.asp?file=/liveware/wme/download.asp (if on dial-up there 25mb and don't do much, but w/ anything faster its a must).
