Anyone using one? Anyone got any ideas of what they think would be good? Or who's software is so bad they should be avoided at all costs *glares at Corsair*

Leaning towards a Razer Huntsman V2. Seems they are often on sale as the V3 is the current gen.

so exactly how does that work? Rather than on/off software can tell how far down a key is pressed? I'm assuming that at a certain level it triggers sending the character, but what's the point? Programmable trigger depth? Or as-yet-undisclosed software might use that as a control scheme like a controller trigger?

So Razer does this optically, wooting does it using hall effect switches (so magnetic). Allows for for analog like control through the keys as well as being able to set custom actuation points and etc.

But how does software actually use it? They like install a virtual game controller with 104 buttons in addition to the keyboard?

That varies from company to company's software. But yes, Razer's software for instance lets you emulate a controller as one of the methods.
