Is there a way to force the showing of files in the Windows directory?

You know how Win98 won't immediately show you the contents of the Windows directory? Not to mention the Windows\System folder. I hate having to click the Show Files button every time I poke around in Windows. I know you can't change that in the Folder Options tab, so I'm thinking perhaps a registry hack.

Anyone know?

You might be able to do it by deleting the desktop.ini file from the \Windows and the \Windows\System directories.

I can't check for you, because I'm not using Windows 98.

Open it once, click show all files. Then turn off HTML view from the View menu. It'll never do that again. /Windows/System, is the same way.
