Is there a diffrence between build by and powered by catalyst drivers?

I have a powered by Radeon 8500 and always used the build by drivers without any problems, but for the fun I looked in the powered by section to, to my surprise the files are called diffrent and have diffrent sizes. The FAQ states that the catalyst drivers can be used for both build an powered by cards, but is there any real diffrence between these 2 drivers?

and:

for the build by cards

no. Before powered by ati drivers or reference drivesr were lagging behind in terms of being updating but with the release of catalyst they are both the same now.

The reference drivers have a difference detecting routine that allows it to be installed on any ATI card. The build by drivers have a more stiff detecting routine.

I did the same thing as you till catalyst where the builtby caused some problems.
