Is Half-Life GOTY much better then Half-Life?

I've got version 1.0 what version is GOTY? I have patch 1.0.0.4 and my feet get stuck to elevators. I thought about downloading 1.0.0.8 but 74MB on 56K is slow! Is the Blueshift update worthwhile for the original version? Would it be better to get GOTY and Blueshift? I don't play on-line yet (56K modem) so I really don't need Counter-Strike.
 
Don't get Blue Shift. It is a mediocre mod at best. There are tons of better mods for free. BTW - Half Life is my favourite all time game!
 
i have 1.08 and i also get my feet stuck in elevators (well the elevator gets stuck , dunno why dont recall having this problem with the 1.0.05 version (the version when i bought it , very first release way back in 98)

have to jump or relead in order to get it working again , really annoying


also when you are cuaght in an ambush and escape the squishie machine i couldnt fiind any gear and then i had to jump into a deep pipe and had to crush a vent roster but without gear i coult break it and so i couldnt get in the facory nor out of it because of the jump ,-(
