Was there a VIN provided?

All car max pictures look exactly the same on that turn table floor. I put no effort in at all. I window shop all the time
Ah. That makes sense. Yeah the VIN was provided on the website/ad from the original dealer.
I'll tell you though, when I started looking I didn't even think of CarMax. I contacted several dealers in IL regarding used C8's with 2LT/Z51 that were listed on AutoTempest and Cars.com.
1) The first one (a silver 2LT w/ Z51 but no lift) never got back to me until like 3 days later and then acted like I should be super interested. They actually continued to call me after I already told them no and had paid for the CarMax one to be shipped.
2) The second one (which was a black 3LT w/ Z51, MSRC, and lift) got back to me right away and asked if I wanted to go take a test drive. Then when I said sure, we could do that but was also ready to buy if my trade/financing could be sorted out then (I was already approved by my credit union but was rate shopping) they said they gave my contact information to their manager and I would hear back shortly. I never got a call, so I called that manager and left a vm. He called me back and said there was a problem with the car and the front splitter got cracked at their dealership (it had the 5VM option with carbon fiber side skirts and front splitter) and that he was waiting on his parts department as he didn't know if it was aftermarket or oem. I explained that was all on the original window sticker but he brushed me off. He also then said that he had about 10 other people seriously interested, but they were going to pull the listing until it got repaired (they had the car for several months already). I think they are going to relist it at a higher price. I pretty much decided then that I didn't want to do business with them.
3) The third dealer had a 3400 mile torch red w/ black and tan interior, 2LT with Z51, MSRC, and lift for an excellent price. They also had professional photos and this thing looks showroom clean. I called the location that had the ad and they said that their sister dealership actually had it so told me to call them. I called them and verified the price and asked if it was in stock. The guy said yes, so I asked how soon we could work a deal. He said he doesn't handle sales, but would put his manager in touch. The guy calls back about 40 minutes later and apologized and said he made a mistake and the car was sold a week ago.
At that point I was ready to say to hell with it, I will stick with what I have. But then thought about CarMax (which never even entered my mind). They didn't have anything locally in my price range. But it showed a national listing w/shipping and I saw this one with an excellent spec and jumped on it. I got my trade estimate/offer and paid for the transfer from their store in San Gabriel, CA. This automatically reserved it and hid the listing. When it comes I have 7 days to come down, see it, and close the deal.
