Hey guys,

I just wanted you to help me decide what to play next. I finished playing Deus Ex, which was nothing short of stunning, (except the last level put me off a little because it ran choppy), and the three endings was very original. The "merging with Helios" ending scared the sh!t out of me, and I wish they would have elaborated on the "Dark Age" ending, but the main one, when the Illuminati gets control of the world again is great, I suppose. You can't have it work the way you want, because there has to be order to things, and I got that in the end... (sorry if I sound dumb, but the game was amazing, especially since I followed the story and read every news paper and listened to every conversation in the game). I'm thinking of what Deus Ex was about, the story, and how all the characters fit into it. That's perhaps for another thread in detail. However, I heard somewhere that it has some biblical references, like:

JC Denton: JC stands for Jesus Christ, maybe? Hence 'Deus Ex', 'God From'.
Paul Denton: Paul is one of the apostles, who preached the word of the Lord and all that. In the game, he tells you about the NSF, the conspiracies, and to use non-lethal methods.

Walton Simons: Simon was one of Jesus' brothers; in the game Simons has nano-augs, just like you. But he's evil. And voiced by Tom Hall. :D

Joseph Manderly: Joseph, another biblical name...

:hmm:

Anyway, after a day to fully digest the experience (which I'll have to play again real soon! :D), I'm playing Heretic II right now to kill a day (haven't played it in a while, I LOVE the Heretic / Hexen saga), and after that I want to get stuck into something new, something I haven't played before. So I just want to know, via a simple poll, what you think I should play next, and why. :D

Options are in the poll, vote for what you think would really rule, and I'll get cracking on that next! ;)

[edited some stuff... :D]

Depends what you're in the mood for; Grim Fandango for one of the best adventure gaming experiences ever, NOLF for a solid, funny FPS, and Diablo if you want to practice your mouse-clicking skills
:D ...haven't played the other two.

NOLF!

NOLF!

It's a great game, it's a change-o-pace from the heavy tales you've been into, and Agent Archer is one fine lady. (I just can't bring myself to calling her a "babe" even though she's well worthy of the title...play and you'll understand. :) )

Stay away from Outcast. It wasn't that good. If you like Adventure games that will suck you into a story look for a game called Sanitarium. Its not a FPS, but it is an awesome adventure simular to the old Serria and Lucas Arts games such as Loom, Kings Quest, Police Quest, etc... Grim Fandango is another great game simular to that. Sanitarium is a few years old so you should find it for a real steal. Like $5 or $10 online.

Grim Fandago?

Grim Fandago?

Damn it, from the poll it looks like I'm gonna have to hunt me up a copy of this game if everyone is recomending it......

After all the seriousness of Deus Ex, I'd reccomend a light hearted FPS like NOLF, it will keep you laughing and playing for a while.

If you like Monkey Island or other graphic adventure games, it's a keeper.

Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 :)
Had me stuck on my computer seat for hours :)

Soul Reaver is a fun game. I have it for the DC. Hoping to pick up SR2 for the PC soon.

Well, I installed NOLF, and seeing that the training mission ran and looked like shat, I'm going to tweak it up before I play it seriously. :) Then, after that, maybe a little trip to the Land of the Dead... :D

You gotta love a game where a luztic bashes his head against the wall in the first scene....I've always had a soft spot for a good adventure game(sorry Myst was not one of them) Man, all the King's quest's...actually all of sierra's adventure games, Rex Nebular, Loom(never did have the patience to solve it only using my ears) GRIM FANDANGO(The only adventure game where I MISSED a game character when the game ended...actually 2 characters I like Glottis a lot too), AITD, The Incredible Journey.

I just look at my King's Quest 4 box, and it says "Over a 3.0 Megabyte anamated introduction, the largest in a computer game ever". Boy we've come a long way from 1988.

NOLF is the best of the choices...BUT...

NOLF is the best of the choices...BUT...

I just had to weigh in on this discussion.

If you liked Deus Ex, then you need to try System Shock 2. This game is very similar in flavor as it is an immersive first person game with lots of depth, and character building options.

NOLF is a great first person game. If nothing else, it is a good game to use to brush up on stealth tactics.

I suggest you Undying, very scary, spooky game (based on the same engine that deus Ex Btw, so not much tweakin for ya)

I not only own both Undying and System Shock 2, but the latter is one of the best games in existence! It is the scariest game I've ever played, and I've never feared a game more! It is an absolutely amazing game because normally in FPS games, you play as a character in a story, making sure they move through the game and you watch what they do. In System Shock 2, you play as YOU, which makes it MUCH scarier, because you feel that it's your life on the line, not the characters. :D

Undying was also awesome. :) I have to play it again soon, the first time I played was on really low detail... ;)

Q: "I just finished Deus Ex... what next?"

A: Hope to God that someday someone comes up with a game that compares to it.
