HTiB recommendations?

It's about time to purchase a new television and home speaker set-up. Are there any recommendations? There are just too many televisions and speaker set-ups out there so I'm wondering if people can recommend a few to get me started off on my research. Websites would be great, too. Thanks.

I have a Sony one and even tho the speakers can sound a little "tin" like, but im pretty impressed with it. My biggest complaint with it is that the speaker connections in the back are some sort of Sony connection which means i cant swap out the speakers if i ever wanted to.

HTIB are a dime a dozen and its actually quite confusing with all of the different model types, but i ended up going with whatever was the best value rather than spending big bucks on it seeing they wont sound as good as real speakers on real amps.

Samsung and Onkyo seem to be the go too units these days with LG and Sony not too far behind. But there seems to be a big push with these sound bars, heard a few and i was actually impressed... but no go if one wants 5.1+ surround.

What's your budget? What's the room/setup like? What do you want out of it? Do you have space for all the speakers (and are ok with seeing them all)? You can get better sound from medium to larger speakers for less money - rule of thumb, mind you - as great sound from small speakers is exceedingly difficult and therefore exceedingly expensive.

If you have the budget, I'd highly recommend buying a separate receiver and then a speaker package. If you can't afford all the speakers up front would you be willing to buy the fronts and sub and add rear speakers later? If all-in-one is a must, I'd look first at Onkyo.

Don't.

Only reason to do this would be due to a very limited budget, and lack of decent hearing. ;)

Do the research on speaker combinations and the best receiver for your desired setup. See AVSFORUMS for info. You can get a very nice performing setup for a little more that htib. Or like someone said above, go with a 2.1 setup with better quality speakers.
