Help with 3d representation of scientific results

Hey guys - i thought you are normally pretty clever people so i have a request for programming/3d help.

I am doing a uni project looking at hot water (thermal effluents) being pumped out of a power station into the sea. I will be obtaining temperature readings at different depths at specific GPS locations. Ideally I could then combined with sea charts and maps - 3dimensionally represent my findings. What I would like is to have a 3d model of the sea bed and coastline in the region and then the 3d model of the plume of water.

Is this at all possible and if so can anybody please help since I have no programming knowledge

Cheers

thanks but...

thanks but...

... it looks really complicated - too complicated for me, I had a look, but I think it is too hard for me to use.

If you or anyone could help me do it I would be very appreciative.

Thanks

We do this kind of stuff all the time. Generally we are talking about salinity, O2 concentration, current speed, etc. in our models (Chesapeake Bay, Persian Gulf, etc.). Generally we use SGI computers and OpenGL Performer. However, that is not a requirement. We have one OpenGL demo that runs on Win2K with either a Radeon 8500 (at my house) or GeForce 2 Pro (at work).

[BTW: Either Open Explorer or AVS/Express is good to use as well.]

I do not know what/where you are looking but theU.S. Geological Survey is a good place to start.
