help me buy a home theater audio system

I'd get a good receiver and then spend the rest of your budget on speakers.

I personally like Denon for a reciever and then something like Polk Audio for speakers.

$1500.00 is a pretty decent budget now a days for a sound system.

I agree, some HTIB are decent, but if your going to spend that much your going to get more for your money by hand selecting your components.

Spend some time here: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/index.php do the research for what works for your setup.

My 2c, "decent" receiver, spend as much as you can for the best speakers in your budget.

Piece out the bundle and with a little price shopping you can currently get the same setup under $1200. :)

One thing is for certain with Polk speakers, good prices come to those who wait. Just 3 months ago Amazon had a sale on those Polks. Switching out the center with the TSX150C, the whole shebang would cost you less than a grand. These sales are very frequent, timing your purchases can save lots of money. I like money :)
