help formatting

I just purchased a 30GIG HD to match the one I boot from. I tried fdisk to create and format the HD and the damn thing shows up as capacity 7.15MB. I am using windowsME. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please be gentle as I am a newbie at this PC

This should belong to the Tech forum, but here goes.

Check your BIOS. Make u're using LBA. Disable you RAID if u're not using it. When fdisk, choose Yes when first ask if you want to enable large disk support. If your HDD already have a parition and you dun need it, delete first before creating a new one. If you need it, use Partition Magic to resize it or if you're technical, get the free FIPS to do the resizing.
