Help build me a PC (because I haven't been keeping up)

4K runs great on my 3080TI w/ a LG CX48. Metro is punishing but I have 60fps+ at all times with DLSS Quality and settings completely maxed.

I disagree, Metro and CP run just great with all RT options on and balanced DLSS @ 1440p for me 85+ FPS.

4K is another story, of course.

Again you are talking with DLSS enabled.I am aiming for DLSS disabled. As i told him wait for next to NOT need to activate DLSS and have more artifacts and complications.
Cyberpunk is not a game that works with playable fps without DLSS.
Is his choice afterall if he wants to play with DLSS or native.
If you have to activate DLSS on a 1000$ card then the card is underpowered for RTX.

Nope, not the case, and as you don't own a DLSS card I think you're assumptions are just that. We who own the card know it to be different.

I haven't played CP2077 in a while, not since release tbh, so I won't comment on it. As for Metro Exodus, DLSS does very well. The only noticeable issue with DLSS while playing and not staring at the screen looking for anomalies is the ghosting of the red-dot sight. That's extremely minor..

Basing a card off of being underpowered for RTX off of one game, which is notorious for poor coding and lack of optimization, is a really big stretch. You can play Metro Exodus @ 4K maxed without DLSS.

I find it strange that you play at 1080p (or 1440p now? I don't remember) and are somehow complaining about the IQ of DLSS. I hate to break it to you man but 4K DLSS Quality still looks better than native 1080p on a 24" IPS monitor.

If you don’t listen to anything badsykes has to say then you will be fine. Dude never played with DLSS but leaves no opportunity to take a dump on it.

I will reformulate .... Using DLSS / FSR or other techniques is a bit meh when paying 1000 $ + for a card. That's my point.
And also we are talking now about already "old" games with RTX.Maybe the "old" games with DLSS are fine but in a year or two the new RTX games may wipe the floor with the 3x00 generation even with DLSS.If you spend 4000$ then get the new gen gpu and get proper RTX firepower.
The only reason to get a very expensive card now is the uncertainity of the supply chain and wars.

I play on the Dell 2721DGF at 1440p with rx6800.I am talking as a 1000$ gpu owner.
There are game bugs themselves and DLSS/FSR specific bugs. For example Metro Exodus Enchanced edition has a blurry image and other game specific bugs versus non-RTX.Add the artifacts from DLSS / FSR and you got yourself a nice soup at 1000$+.Add the performance drops too here. I may not eat that soup very well.I will not deny that DLSS 2.0 is much better but people should not rely on DLSS at this price point of 1000$ + gpus.DLSS should be used for low - medium gpu's rigs to help achieve playable performance.
If i am paying 1500$ for a gpu i wouldn't want to abuse DLSS / FSR

I think that your premise is incorrect and it's based upon watching YouTube vids and not actual first hand experience with the hardware.

You're using a mid-range AMD card at 1440p with FSR and DirectX Raytracing, and you're complaining about RTX cards and DLSS? Both of which are nVidia technologies/brands? I'm confused.

I'm using a 3080ti at 4K and can run most games without DLSS, but DLSS is like a free performance boost for the really demanding games. Never had a complaint about the picture quality with DLSS on. Unless you're using Performance or Best Performance settings of course. I usually set DLSS to Quality or Balanced and you have to look really hard to tell the difference between it and native 4K.

I haven't played any FSR game either.I saw plenty of technical reviews where people disect the bugs.I agree it may not be that bad but add the RTX specific bugs that are annoying (in Metro Exodus and Cyberpunk) and the RTX performance drop and i am not very entuziastic anymore.
This is like back in 2900xt era when DX10 was just released.Crysis 1 was barely playable with DX10 enabled.

FSR is not compatible with Metro Exodus Enhanced edition. You can look that up.I have to turned down RTX from ultra to high.Otherwise the FPS is going to dip under 40fps.
i don't deny that DLSS v2 is very good.Everywhere is prised but also HU says that ironically the best resolution to be used is 4k.You compensate the lack of performance of an 1500$ gpu with a trickery. Seriously ?

I am out of this conversation. Op decide whatever he wants.

You know, when you're playing it's very hard to spot these. If you had see this at play you'd know this. Metro and CP are THE two best RT games right now and DLSS makes the frames more than playable.

You've stated your opinion but I'd appreciate it if we could move on as it's mere speculation on your part rather than actual hands on gameplay.

I'm really not sure what your point is, other than:
1. DLSS/FSR is "trickery"
2. 4K without "trickery" has the best picture.

Is that it? Not trying to drive you out of the conversation, just trying to understand your point and how you arrived at your conclusion.

Oh and RTX is an nvidia brand/platform. Are you talking about DXR (DirectX Raytracing)? Either way, it's not news that you'll see a performance hit when you enable the shiny reflections. And the quality of the picture with FSR/DLSS depends on whether you're going for quality or performance.

Also, the cost of GPUs are very inflated now, but they're coming down. Eventually the high-end cards should be within range of MSRP, so you'll get better bang for your buck. Hopefully.

This guy have both cards 6800xt and 3080.He disect both cards from a user experience standpoint in all aspects and not only gaming.

Yeah, ok. I'm telling you that Metro and CP are VERY playable with full RT and DLSS, I don't care what a nobody on youtube says, I know what my eyes tell me and what the FPS I see is.
