Gsync, Vsync, 120hz, 60hz - Questions

Hello I was trying to understand what is the best configuration to play with my OLed TV at 120Hz compatible Gsync

If I keep the 60Hz, 60fps, Gsync active and Vsync active video games are fluid, I only have problems when active the frame generator and I have to play full screen window (in fullscreen the games play at 30fps)

If I put the 120Hz, 60fps, Gsync Active, Vsync deactivated the video games are fluid but not like when I keep the 60Hz, in this situation I have no problems with frame generator

What is the best configuration in your opinion? Generally I put the Cap to the FPS because the 60 frames do not mind, I don't see great difference in using the more frames and getting the GPU to warm up and consume more

What do you think?

I am not sold on frame generation. The point of high frame rate is supposed to be responsiveness to user input. Generating junk frames doesn't seem like it should help that.

I think gsync at lower speeds and power levels makes more sense. If that jives with how it feels to you, I'd say stick with that, but I am hardly an expert and have notoriously low frame rate demands. 😏

You'd probably want to set the display to 120Hz, Enable G-Sync and enable FrameGen if your FPS is hovering around 60fps and can't hit 120fps on it's own. V-Sync doesn't need to be on and you don't need to cap any of the frame rates.

Basically FrameGen's only reason for existence is to help give you the perception of a higher Frame rate that your display is capable of. Allowing for smoother motion and/or image clarity.

But keep in mind, your on a OLED. So it won't get you much of an increase in image clarity, as much as improved smoothness. That's just a reality of OLED being a better display tech than LCD.
