Google app store security overkill...

So Im logged into Google as I usually am through youtube anyway and have a gmail account that I always use but it asks me to log into it again to access the app store so I can dl an app to track my lost phone.

So of course it wants to send a verification number to said phone so I choose alternate send verification number to my gmail email.

Email rejected without reason. I had to use hotmail email... wtf google.

Now they say its gonna take 3-5 days to 'recover my account' because Im using a new email to which they now responded to both emails to warn me of an attempt to recover my account that Im already logged into.

Point is isnt this security stuff a bit overkill? I dont even have CC on file at the google account.

Edit: found it... have a bad cold and for some reason I put the phone in the briefcase, which I usually never do, after the last union meeting.

At least I can stop panicking now.

Oh and to the lovely folk at google who deal with recovering accounts sorry for the potty language.

I was in a bad, bad place at the time...
