Going on now for 8th year! I hope it has helped you as it helped me keeping my backlogs in check while enjoying my games.

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.
Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

Completed Games:
746-Dragon's Dogma 2
747-Senua's Saga: Hellblade II

Sorry for the delay. This time I lost track of this as I was thinking I already made this post.

Anyway, 2 for me for May:
746-Dragon's Dogma 2: I actually loved this game all the way. I practically did almost everything and every quest. Over 100 hours in. Can't wait to see what the DLC/Expansion will do. This game isn't for everyone as people either like it or hate it.

747-Senua's Saga: Hellblade II: This too I liked, because the eye candy was so great, that it made the rest of the game enjoyable. I expect it to be a snooze fest had the visuals weren't great. Still great atmosphere. If you liked the first, you MIGHT like this. If you didn't, you won't like this.

A mixed month. Several beaten but also quite a few abandoned this month.
Beaten titles were;
Fall of Porcupine - Unremarkable narrative game about a Pigeon at an animal hospital.
Once Upon a Jester/Everybody WHam Wham - Two games from the same developer. Silly but enjoyable fluff.
Little Kitty, Big City - Cute though shallow and badly in need of some QOL work.
Moss Book II - VR Action adventure.
White Shadows - Striking visuals but not much gameplay.
Easy Red II - A bit rough around the edges but easily the best shooter I've played in a long time and very reasonable priced for the amount of content you get.
Highwater - Shallow RPG narative game.
Isoland 2 - Bizarre point and click. Probably enjoyed it more than the first one as the puzzles weren't quite so obscure though.

Nine overall though only two were particularly substantial.

Four for me:
  • Metro: Last Light Redux. Had played previously, but didn't finish. Can't say I missed out on much.
  • Aperture Desk Job. Tech demo slash tutorial for the Steam Deck.
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider. Had played previously, but didn't finish. Pretty neat on Steam Deck.
  • Half-Life: Opposing Force. Probably the fifth time or something that I ran through it. Fun for an afternoon.

6 games:

Moss 1
Superhot VR
Minishoot Adventures
Hellblade 1
SteelRising
Immortals of Aveum

I had a good time with 4.5 of these games, and an awful time with Immortals.

Hellblade would have moved beyond the 0.5 mark if it had less gameplay and more walking sim.

I liked Immortals, but I think I can understand.

4 for me.

Invincible Presents: Atom Eve - Started this thinking it would be pretty casual, and it was. However, surprisingly not kid friendly so I couldn't play it when they were around. Language, censored adult scene, etc. A couple of clever battles, some good dialogue, and some weird dialogue scenes where being a heterosexual male playing as a heterosexual female didn't sit right. Overall 5.5/10.

Of Orcs and Men - Installed this in 2020 from GOG to be my "on the sly" game to play while working from home. Got to a part where the rain made the floor surface wet of wooden planks and looked terrible as my 5700XT refused to enable AF on it (while the Vega 64 seemed to before I RMA'd it). It was enough that I stopped playing, then AMD fixed their drivers and AF worked, but I didn't go back to it until month before last. Strange combat system, adequate stealth mechanic, middle-of-the-road story, some "choices matter" elements thrown in. Overall 7/10

Ziggurat - Mostly underwhelming rogue-lite FPS. Beat the fifth and last level and there's pretty much nothing more to see. You're expected to repeat over and over. At least Immortal Redneck had multiple pyramids to unlock. Overall 6/10

Amid Evil: Black Labyrinth - A worthy DLC introducing a weapon even more impressive than the one that pulls planets from the universe and launches them. Now, you have a scythe which rips into the void between space and time to cut shielded enemies clean in half. Level design is on point despite some jank. Overall 8/10

One.

Deep Rock Galactic (7/10) - Played this with friends in co-op for about 20 hours. It's a fun enough game for what it is, but I don't entirely understand why it's been such a hit. The basic premise is interesting and the missions are fun enough at first, but after playing through each of the mission types a few times it starts to get old. There isn't really any story to speak of, and even the "campaigns" are just strings of missions where you get some sort of update afterwards. I guess if you really love the game play you can play this for years, but my enjoyment of the game didn't rise to that level.

On the plus side there's a VR mod for the game that is surprisingly polished. It really feels like playing a first party VR implementation. If not for that I'd have enjoyed the game less than I did. One specific high point was riding the pipelines in the refinery levels in VR. It really was like a mini roller coaster! On the whole I'll give the game a 7/10 only because playing in VR was a cool experience. On flat screen it's only a 6 or 6.5/10 in my opinion.
