Free IDE's any langauge

ok, so this section is basically dead, but i'm looking to get back into programming, my last blast was with vb 6 & office vba 97-2003, so thats pretty much all i know, was wondering if anyone knows of any free ide's, i'd like to use visual studio but its so frigging expensive, and i honestly can't be bothered to get the pirated version as its soo huuge, just downloaded this one Sharp Develop supposed to be a fully featured IDE that supports .net

any one know of any good ones for other langauges, i haven't yet used this so can't commenet, hoping to find some kind of visual studio like app
 
For Java, go with NetBeans, and for Microsoft-oriented programming, you could get Visual Studio Express, it's free.
