DTS Sound unbound/microsoft store

Fuck microsoft and DTS. I bought the software, was using it for months on my account. Set up a new computer, MS started downloading all of the stuff I had previously downloaded from MS Store, DTS Sound Unbound included.

However, there's no license... just a free trial. MS store completely unhelpful, insisting that I must have downloaded it on a different account and that it's not transferrable. F** the MS store. I can't trust it anymore. This wouldn't happen on the Google Play Store. I can reuse apps across many generations of phones.

Bizarrely, the guy kept reading copy from the apps page telling me how owesome it is throughought the whole thing.

So, either I'll not spend another dime and stick with the windows free spacialization or I'll spend it with a competitor. I'm not paying DTS again and I'll actively discourage anyone to use them as well.

Wow that's unfortunate. Right when Disney+ announced they'll be supporting DTS:X on their streamer this year.

After a debacle in relicensing windows I decided to pick the support person's brain on this issue, and I reinstalled the dolby headphone app so that I could tell her exactly what I was seeing. THIS time it seems to have found the license. Don't know if my previous complaint caused them to look into it or not. Seems more likely that the dolby license was tied to my previous product key (as opposed to the account), which now I'm using again, and that has authorized it again.

Either way, I have a hard time recommending using the Microsoft Store. They seem to have issues remembering licenses.

Glad you able to get it back so you can enjoy DTS:X on Disney+ whenever they roll it out (or maybe already have, I dunno)!

koralis ... a bit of an aside... but do you use the spatial audio headphone part of DTS Unbound? If so, what do think of it? I'm debating between it and Dolby Atmos version of the same thing.

Generally like it. Better sounding than windows sonic. Somewhat better than Dolby, but that may come down to not having the correct headphone mapping... I can't say.

To be clear dts just sounds better than sonic in terms of clarity, etc.

Dts and Dolby both have similar fidelity... Dts (on my headphones at least) seemed to have slightly better positional audio cues.
