DS Lite Hinges

I just noticed one of my hinges is cracked. :( It hasn't been dropped. It looks like its from normal wear and tear from opening and closing. Has this happened to anyone else or is it common?

Its still under warranty so I guess I'll be sending it back to try and have it repaired. :cry:
 
Its common for first generation DSlites. There was a big controversy over it some time ago. Doesnt effect the DS in anyway except that its cracked..

Mine is cracked /shrugs
 
its common..? nevet happend to mine and its a launch day lite, and it gets used every single day since i bought it, so i have to wonder if its common for people to be dropping theirs everyday.. i even droped mine once and not a single stratch.

No its commom from everyday use, just google it and im sure there will be a whole bunch of pages about it. I think even the guys at Hardocp had their hinges break too.
 
mine is used everyday and not a single crack, guess i got one of the good baches :bleh:

tho it wouldnt surprise me now, after reading this thread on this forum, to have my ds start cracking everywhere.. like how i didnt have any 360 red light problems till i read the posts here, i swear you guys are full of some kinda voodoo :bleh:
 
Yeah my DS Lite wasn't dropped. I just noticed it the other day when I pulled it out since I had picked up some new games. It opens and closes fine. I'm just worried about down the road.

I couldn't return but Nintendo is sending me an UPS mailer so I'll let them fix it. :heart: my DS. Hopefully I'll get it back before the web browser comes out next month.

Isn't Opera already avaliable or do you mean a homebrewed one?
 
i checked my ds and got a little scared because i thought they where cracks there, but i just google searched what is the "ds lite crack" and came up with this pic below, turns out i dont have cracks and what i throught where cracks are the seems just above the "L" they are on either side and not even and thats why it made me think i might have cracks after all, but nope 2 years of every day use and no a single crack. (or is it 1 year.. i cant remember how long ive had the lite but i had it since launch day and the phat too since launch)

that sucks, nintendo usually have pretty decent product quality too, theres another type of crack too which cracks just under the hinges too and makes it pretty unplayable apparently, heres another pic thanks to my good friend google.

Is the white plastic affected more than the black? Or have the white models simply been out longer.
You will love the browser, I've got it and it is great!
 
yeah i think its the white ds's that are affected, i cant seem to find anything about any other coloured ds lite thats cracked.. heh glad i got the black one now
 
Well, I went ahead and traded it in and got a black one instead. :runaway:
Traded my PSP in as well and got my wife a Pink DS Lite since she kept trying to steal mine when I wanted to play it.

Anyways at least Nintendo was willng to fix it (if its under warranty). :heart: NDS
