In a series of tweets, CD PROJEKT unveils its upcoming plans include a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel codenamed Project Orion, a Witcher trilogy, and two additional The Witcher games. With all that on deck, and recalling the rough launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it's a little surprising to hear the company is also currently working on a new standalone IP codenamed Project Hadar

...

Project Sirius
Game developed by The Molasses Flood with support from the CD PROJEKT RED team, set in The Witcher universe. Compared to existing CD PROJEKT RED games, this one targets a much broader audience. Sirius will include single player and multiplayer gameplay.

Project Polaris
This project launches the new Witcher trilogy, expanding the universe presented in past Witcher games. The saga will consist of three games which we plan to release during a six-year publishing cycle, starting with the release date of Polaris itself.

In technical terms, the second and third part of the saga will be based on the foundation which we put in place for Polaris. By following this approach we intend to improve our game development pipeline without giving up on any of our artistic ambitions, or on our intent to raise the bar ever higher with each successive release.

Project Canis Majoris
A full-fledged release set in The Witcher universe, to be developed by an external studio under the supervision of experienced developers who have previously worked on Witcher games. In terms of technology - we intend to use Unreal Engine 5 and the toolset created for Polaris.

Project Orion
A Cyberpunk release which will further develop the potential embodied by this universe. Project Orion will be developed by CD PROJEKT RED North America, which will comprise the newly created Boston hub along with our existing Vancouver team. This studio is separate from The Molasses Flood (which is working on Sirius and is also based in Boston). Establishing a new studio - CD PROJEKT RED North America - will enable us to fully tap into the North American talent pool.

New IP - Project Hadar
A new original IP. For the first time in its history, CD PROJEKT RED is developing an entirely new universe from scratch. Early conceptual work began in 2021. As of the publication date of this document there is ongoing work on the foundations of this world - laying the setting for a third separate product line in the future.

That's a huge list of projects for a studio that took FOREVER to get DLC out for cyberpunxsutawney 2077.

Kinda weird that another studio is doing a witcher game and they're also doing 3 witcher games. I'm guessing the external one is a geralt witcher game and the trilogy is another character?

Both reference Witcher Universe... I am betting no geralt (maybe a cameo)

I suspect the trilogy is either set at the dawn of the witches, or the revived Witcher organization post first trilogy. The other would be the opposite.

 See everyone in 2030.

I’d love to be surprised though. Two games I would like to see are a Ciri based game, expanding on her powers and combat style, and something along the lines of the pending Netflix release Blood Origins.

The writing would have to be super tight though. The Geralt games didn’t leave many stones unturned for Ciri.

The sad part to me is that the team that did the world/environment/design was phenomenal. Walking around in cyberpunk is a joy. It's too bad the rest of the game is so poor. They have switched to UE5, so maybe this time the ai and whatnot won't be as much an issue?

The main story and most side missions are just fine so I would not call the rest of the game 'poor'.

I would say that the post launch effort by CDPR to fix the game issues has indeed been poor.

i think all their problems stems from making it work on gaming consoles .

almost all of them

they started cutting features and things out to work on consoles

and broke everything

they should have had the balls to do a PC only release then a cut down console release at a latter date

They should have just canned the ps4/xb1 version, and released the ps5/xbxbxbxbxbxbxxb version at a later date like bill said.

But they got greedy, and the game got compromised as **** because of it.

i really doubt cd pro will release another cluster **** like cyberpunk was.

We learned our lesson from the one game being overly ambitious

So heres our future plans.....a buttload more games, releases and a new IP.
What could possibly go wrong?

none of the games that put on the road map are new, they were all decided on well before cyberpunk was even close to release.

as for why i dont think cdpro will let this happen again, is pretty simple. Their support and follow up development for all their witcher games has been phenomenal, not just the main three. far and above almost any development and more importantly far above any production company ever.

They got completely ****ed by an outside company that they previously had good relationship with. So much so that they built their own in house replacement. They are also switching engines to make sure that they dont have the same engine problems, as well as hiring pros who already have the training, and setup a long turn training program in house for the new engine.

Did they **** up? yes. it was entirely their responsibility, even if most of the **** that happened is understandable. Not ok, just understandable.

None of the things that happened around cyberpunk are even the worst versions of those events to happen, as terrible as they are.

Cdpro, are a company built on quality and more important they are people who genuinely want to create amazing games, NOT products. I seriously doubt they will let this happen again.
