I have it. It's a sickness.

So we went to L.A. for vacation and rented a 2021 Tesla Model 3. I fell in love.

I requested a trade estimate on my Supra and Tesla offered me $1000 over what the dealer charged me brand new. About 30 minutes ago I just placed my order for a 2021 Model 3 Performance in midnight silver metallic.

What do you see in the Tesla that the Supra doesn’t have? Because I can’t see it..

Edit: Your vehicle your fun - hope you enjoy the purchase.

Still trying to figure out if ADD = Add as in math term or ADD as in ADHD....

but....

I got my deposit on a Model Y....so consider me your fellow retch on this forum....

Whats the electric station situation where you are?

Well, I will have a Tesla Wall Connector in my garage (alternatively I may just have a NEMA 14-50 outlet installed and use the mobile charger with adapter to save a little bit of money at the expense of slower charging - up to 44 miles per hour for the Wall Connector vs 25-30 miles per hour for the NEMA outlet). I believe my utility company (city owned - we have hydro power) will even give me a $400 rebate for installing the Wall Connector. In any case, it will certainly beat plugging the mobile charger which only charges like 5 miles per hour on a regular outlet.

There is a Supercharger location 20 minutes from here. The next one is 30 minutes from here. The one after that is 45 minutes. There is a scattering of slower Tesla destination chargers as well non-Tesla level 2 chargers (including 3 in my town which are 100% free).

You have to realize though. I don't commute often. I work out of my home office and have put only 1500 miles on my car since April.

Sounds like the electric infrastructure is pretty adequate.

I'd never drive an electric car in an area where the infrastructure sucks (like where i live. I've seen electric cars and Teslas around but I never see any charging stations other than at shopping mall parking lots....and we have like...3 large malls and a few smaller ones...and they're not really close to each other). Why do i need to "accomodate" the car's drawbacks when i can easily have a thought-free commuting experience with a regular gas car?

Clock, are you in a condo/building?
I"m assuming if you have a charger before you had an EV, its a shared charger?
Or did your current property come with the charger?

I own my home with a 3 car garage. I am having the charger installed.

Im sure you thought it all out. I was just wondering cause your location says Wisconsin and I was wondering what its like in a state like that. Theres almost the same amount of people in LA as the whole state of Wisconsin.

I have a bunch of friends that drive 3's and Model S' and none of them charge at home cause they say its too damn slow. Basically only if you really cant make it anywhere else.

One of the best things they tell me to buy is a universal converter so you can charge from any type of station.

Did you fall in love the the instant acceleration?

I wouldnt consider 20 minutes away and then 30 minutes away adequate at all. But thats just my personal opinion. I also live in LA so my thought of adequate might be skewed cause we have chargers everywhere and even on city sidewalks where there is street parking.

Are they using (or not using, lol) just the basic home charger or the wall connector? On a 60amp circuit the Model 3 will charge about 44 miles per hour with the Tesla Wall Connector. My friend bought a Model Y a few months back and confirmed that he plugs it in, goes to bed, wakes up, and his car is charged.

Some days I don't even drive my car. Like I said, 1500 miles since April and about 250 of that is from the first day since I had to take a trip to pick it up and then drove my brother around for fun.

I do love the way these things accelerate.

Not so sure about the rest but I know of one who had a charger installed and not the **** wall unit. The one with the Model S is pretty loaded so I assumed he had one installed but I really dont know.

Have fun with it, when is delivery slated for?
