Can you fix education for me?

Short story: I teach chemistry and physics. Cheating is a HUGE problem, globally, thanks to technology.

Longer story: When I was at Oregon State University as a student, they had a program that kept a database of samples and a range of accepted values. So, after we checked out a sample (A) to run and analyzed it, we input our data and the computer (pre-Pentium this thing) told us if we were within the acceptable range. If we were, we passed the lab practicum. If we weren't, we had to check out a new, different sample (Q) and start again.

So, anyone have a idea if something like this exists out there? If not, should I start programming in Access or is there something better suited?
