hi,

what are you playing right now ? I am playing Dark Age of Camelot at the moment - and i just ordered my copy of Dungeon Siege !

I am very disappointed that Morrowind (expected release end of April) is a single player game - even if i think the graphics look great (saw some preview videos)...i think i might even NOT get it since i really, really want multi player/online capabilities and not a lonely "single player" game...i dont understand the developers..especicially RPGs live from playing with other people !!!

However...Neverwinter Nights ?

I dont know too much about Morrowind..and even less about neverwinter nights....only that the latter is multiplayer capable and one of the other highly anticipated games coming soon.
(Together with Dungeon Siege, Morrowind).

What are your thoughts on that ? What RPGs are you gonna play when they come out ?

greets

I still have yet to install and play that..

But maybe they would release a patch in the later months for
Morrowind that will enable multiplayer?

I'm not big on RPGs on the PC since I have a console, but an online
RPG does sound really interesting..

MMORPGS are crap. I want a game I can play without having to deal with whiners, online fees, lag issues etc. I am all for single player games. Q3 for example, was a terrible dissapointment being a multiplayer only game except for some janky single player bot fight. MMORPGS I'll never buy. My opinion.

this are some SERIOUS (holy mama !) screenshots of morrowind (single player)

the shots for neverwinter nights (same site somewhere) look nice too.

re: multi player...i think once you get hooked on its really HARD to go back to single player games...but i have to agree that morrowind looks AWESOME......i dont know.....

I dont think that mmorpgs are crap...maybe the "big" ones....i also prefer partying rather with small groups...eg. playing baldurs gate on a network with roomates....there is NOTHING which compares to that ! Eg. small groups..like up to 8 people....

You cant blame the MMORPGS if there are whiners and cheaters online etc...it's all how the MMORPG is done..and there still is no "perfect" MMORPG out in my opinion. It's just a "reflection" of the real world...and morons are everywhere :)

DAoC (dark age of Camelot) is the only one "decent one" MMORPG we have right now (or at least the one i know)....it's an "ok" game...but nothing more. (A lot i would do different)
Maybe Dungeon Siege will be much better with its smaller groups etc....

Btw..why do you think that there are actually SOME really good RPGs out (eg. Might and Magic IX)..but noone raves about them...i didnt even know that they exist ?!

Why ? Because they dont have multiplayer capabilities !

Why do people rave about DS ? Ok..it's part Microsoft PR..but many people rave because of multiplayer and especially the fact that people can DESIGN their own worlds and share them with others to play..host their own games...group with others etc...

Developers who develop a game without any multiplayer/networking capabilities obviously slept over the last 15 years.....this SAME programmers might go home in teh eveneing after work...and spend their time playing Quake online with others....

Some companies actually realized what's going on..and why do you think many people talk about Star Wars Galaxies....Dark Age of Camelot..Everquest....Dungeon Siege...Baldurs Gate etc.. etc....Unreal, Quake..etc.etc..etc

:)

Baldurs gate 1, 2, and TOB, as well as Fallout 1, and 2 are great examples of single player games that people raved about because they were great games. I know baldurs gate 2 had multiplayer but it is really much more fun in single player. No whiners, idiots holding the team back, etc.

if i was young and didn't have a life, neverwinter is what i always dreamed of and wished for back when i used to DM and create AD&D adventures. *sigh* ah, well... trade-offs for making serious $$ and having a gf and a music hobby.

morrowwind looks like the game i would buy. dungeon seige looks like RPG for Newbies. Prob better than Diablo II, though. Also looks better than M&M IX.

for the most part, i've given up on RPG and moved to fantasy strategy/RTS: Heroes of M&M IV and the upcoming Warcraft III. Much more replayability.

Wish Bioware would release another Baldur's Gate or somesuch. Here's hoping that they focus on that right after Never Winter Nights.

A few FPS are more interesting: JK2, RTCW, System Shock 2, Thief, Thief 2, Wheel of Time, etc. and still worth checking out (less so RTCW).

Neverwinter Nights is highly anticipated. Something all my friends are going to buy. The multiplayer is going to be fabulous, I hope. You can construct your own dungeons and create your own monsters, and if you feel that your party is too strong, increase the strength of those monsters. I think you just have to be an AD&D junkie in order to really enjoy it. All of the armor, shield, weapons, spells, cities, lands, people, are mostly, if not all from the Forgotten Realms world of AD&D. If you've been involved in AD&D and enjoy it, this game is definetly for you.
