Audio & Temps?

Using the 13.2 Beta 5 drivers & I am using the digital audio out through HDMI on my 7970. The video is being displayed on DVI. Should using the audio make the mem run at full speed? As soon as I turn off my receiver the gpu & mem clocks go back down to 300/150.

I am not sure if mine is a similar issue, but I have one of my HDMI cables plugged into my HD TV and when you do something like this, the GPU clocks and memory run high and thus the temp increase.

If I unplug the HDMI from the HD TV, the GPPU and Mem clocks drop back to minimum idle and temps also drop!

This is just how CCC works as far as I know!

2 or more connections to the card will force it to runn at 500mhz core and 3D memory speeds. Normal operation.

So if I use a single HDMI out to my receiver, then HDMI from the receiver to my monitor, the temps should drop to 300/150?

Yup any single single display will run at those clocks, once u run 2 or more it jumps to 500

LOL, I just decided to confirm it. Only part that sux is that now my receiver will have to be on full time so either the card or the receiver is using more power.

Most decent recievers have a pass through mode when no power is applied.

Check you manual for how to enable it.

So just to be clear, my VGA cord runs to my monitor and the HDMI runs to my HDTV and my GPU runs at 400mhz and the Memory runs at 1200mhz; it vever drops to idle; so is there any way to avoid this, not that it bothers me too much, but the card is continuously running faster than it should, even with the HDTV turned off!!!

running as expected.

Turning off the TV does not disconnect the HDCP link.

That IS idle for 2 monitors...
