Im theorizing on making some Models Im doing a few Games that support TruForm ( Wolfesntein, Dungeon Siege ) to look Proper under various Sub Division effects done by the Radeon 8500.
I work with 3D Studio Max, and AutoCAD 2002 alomst everyday, and frequently when box modeling, I use Mesh Smooth to make my designs more curvular and fluent in look. I know Max does basicaly its own Sub Division and Tesselation of objects nearly identicaly to TruForm via Mesh Smooth.
My question is, being owner of a R8500 card, is there a plug in or program where I can used the added features the ATI card supports, mainly TruForm, and apply it to Model designs to see what a preview of the Model will look like at various Sub Div, and Tesselation points, this to avoid making a sword look like a Blimp..etc.
I can export each model, fire it up in the desired application and adjust levels of the N-Patches, but seems tedious and would make more sense if i could get around this trial and error method of Modeling lately.
Im more than willing to set a standard of Sub Div, and Tesselation ( ie. 3 ) to base all my models on, but to save them in Max, load them into the application im designing them for, and see the distortion ATI N- Patches make, and then compensate for this back into Max and ACAD is a long process!!
Hows ATI with AutoDesk compatibility and does anyone know if ATI or AutoDesk design special plugins or Programs to help Modelers create Models for N-Patch application afterwards.
Before anyone recommends me buying a FireGL card, please note I dont have the $$$ honestly to invest into a $700 card right now, and am using the 4 hacked OpenGL DLL's to accelerate Max and Acad in OpenGL currently.
