ATI AIW 128 Pro & DirectX 9.0b

Hi!

This is my first post to this forum. I have been browsing thru these forums - a lot of great information here!

My question is this - I am running an ASUS P3V4X mobo, PIII 733, SBLive! 3.0, ATI AIW 128 Pro, ATI driver 4.13.7192, Windows ME, DirectX 8.1, DVD 4.1, MMC 7.1. A pretty sedate but stable configuration - runs very well, albeit uneventful!

I would like to upgrade to DirectX 9.0b, but of course ATI does not officially support this video card anymore, therefore no new driver posted for DX9 support. From what I have been able to determine, this upgrade to DirectX 9.0b should work with the driver that I presently have ... or is there a better choice of drivers?

I would also like to upgrade to higher versions of DVD and MMC. Any suggestions with the configuration that I presently have?

Go ahead with the upgrade. DirectX usually has no impact on performance or compatibility.
As for later versions of MMC and DVD, they do work. Search the forum for instructions on how to install.
 
Thanks, Big Z. I'll give DX9 a go. I'm also anxious to see what the latter versions of DVD and MMC have to offer. (it's about time I tapped into the potential of this video card, even if it is 3 years old).

Hope you're still monitoring the forum - I'd like to know what happened ?
I have a software setup almost identical with yours on the same pro 128, and I can't get any combination of ati software to work properly with DirX9c (the capture playback that is - see my recent post - and I'm pretty sure it's Dx9 clashing with Ravisent's Mpeg2 codecs)

hello i have an asus p3v4x and an ati aiw 128 pro 16mb (pci) card. i have successfully installed directx 9.0c and mmc 7.7. i am running windows 2000 and to get the card to work i use w2kr12851301192 video drivers, tv-capture-wdm-6-14-01-6178v1 drivers, and wxp-w2k-radeon-7-84-030228a1-008040c-efg catalyst drivers. when i first installed mmc 7.7 it didnt work until i changed the display drivers from the ati recommended 513013279 to the alternative 51301192.
