This concerns only the original Radeon and Radeon7xxx chips. I'm running Windows 98SE, so I can't test it myself. The last driver update was unfortunately for 2k/XP only and I wonder whether there's something in the pipe.
Did the latest driver update (6.13.6052) fix the issue described in this thread?

Update: the above link has full source code and description inside, the same stuff was sent to ATI and they confirmed that the issue is on their end. So I'm not talking bogus here
