I just tried it, and am haveing trouble as well...Just did another format and clean install last night.

I can goto standby, but coming out, it gets stuck at a blinking cursor. Now, it has been ALONG time since I have used stand-by, so I guess it could be something else in my system (I have since updraged alot of drivers), but thought I would let you know I have the same problem.

I am running 98SE though; AIW Radeon 7500, catalyst drivers

-EDIT; I just did a restore to go back to the official drivers right before the catalyst ones (6071 drivers?) I am doing alot of tinkering with my pc right now, and found that I had the same thing with those drivers as well. So, at least in my case, I can't blame catalyst. It's something else; again, in my case, it could be almost anything, I have changed up a couple pieces of hardware, and updates LOTS of drivers that were out of date on my system since the last time I used stand-by. Its just a feature I don't use. Sorry I wasn't much help.

By the way, both tries are fresh clean installs of Windows (CD-ResQ is the best thing since sliced bread!)

Okay...now this problem has been on my mind ALL DAMN day at work, so I just wanted to say THANKS ALOT (heavy sarcasm)...just kidding...

Came home and tinkered, and the short version of the story is this:

In my case anyway, I found the problem to be with the remote control software, NOT the drivers.

I came home and uninstalled EVERY ATI piece of software (I thought it could have also been caused by something else in my system). After rebooting, I tried standby; it worked just fine.

I then installed the Capture Drivers; Standby still works fine.

I then installed Catalyst drivers; Still good to go.

Installed MMC 7.6......still okay

Installed MMC 7.7 upgrade; everything still a-okay

Hydravision; same; works just fine.

Installed Remote Control software; BAM, cannot come out of standby.

Give it a try, just uninstall your remote software and see if that does the trick; if so, bug report time for the remote...

Hey cool! Thanks for doing so much leg work..Don't have time to try
right now,on lunch, but will when I get home tonight.

No trouble at all...

I thought you might find this interesting as well on the subject:

http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4016.html

That link applies to the remote software version 1.1 (not the newer version 1.2)

Also, read the very end of the "read me" pdf file in the download driver section, and it says basically the same thing, and that version 1.2 of the remote software was supposed to fix the problem.

Guess they are getting closer to fixing, but not fixed yet (I did get the blue screen when I had version 1.1 of the remote software installed when GOING to standby; Version 1.2 GOES to standby correctly, but does not come OUT of standby for me)

Hope this helps!

Oh, and keep me posted!

I just tried installing the 4in1's 4.39beta,I was using 4.37,
and then installing the 9039's back in(since that probably wasn't
the problem anyway)and after about a 1/2 hour of standby,it
came out fine.Yeah.I don't know how it will act after an
extended standby yet however.
P.S. ATI has got to fix that(losing your programs from the tray icon
thingy)soon, that bugs the sh** out of me.I saw that thread about
fixing it via the registry but when I see THAT much info I get a
glazed look and don't care to mess with it..

So it was not the remote? Just curious, as I seen you went back to an earlier driver revision...

So far, the catalyst series has been okay for me.

I notice some problems others are having, but I am no graphics expert, so I wouldn't know ansotropic filtering (spelling?) if it hit me in the face...So long as my games run, and look okay to me...and so long everything else seems to function okay...

Oh,I didn't mean to imply the remote WASN'T causing it.I just tried
puting the previous display driver in before you did all your investigating cause I thought that was it but it didn't help it.MAYBE
the newer 4in1 helped,not sure,but I just formatted the drive a few
days ago because of a major crash and I didn't have this problem coming out of standby before it so I don't know.

No problem here... I think the issue is more for motherboard. I used to have problem with my A7V133 motherboard.

It's the remote. I had the same problem. Make sure you are using the latest remote updated driver. After installing the latest driver my problem with standby vanished. Originally I contacted ATI and they said it was Dell. I contacted Dell, they said it was ATI. I contacted X10 and they said it was MS. Well someone must have listened. The new drivers for the remote fixed the problem. I can go into standy/sleep all day and the system recovers fine. Thanks for listening.
