Just started doing an app with Eclipse/Windows and it's not too bad. I've managed to hook it up to our .Net web services and it seems really quite swish. Java's as clunky as usual but it's fairly quick to pick up and it's surprisingly fun to see it working.
I've got a few snazzy ideas for apps to do once the prototype's complete, which should earn some brownie points with work
(Or earn me some beer money instead 
).
For anyone who fancies a dabble you can get the SDK from here, the IDE from here, and the ADT plugin from here.
Btw if anyone has a nice simple (.Net stylee) way to manage XML in Java
