Anybody got a Lexus SC430?

Thinking about getting one if I can find one in my price range and color. Just wondering what you all thought of them. Leaning towards a 2002 white Lexus SC430 (if I can find one) over a yellow Porsche Boxster (though I told the dealership to give me a call if they get a 2003-2004 Boxster in anyways).

Ask yourself this question:
Do you want a cruiser or a handler?
The SC is a cruiser, the Boxter is a handler.

Your answer lies in your driving habits.

Well, I mainly just drive back and forth to work. The interior of the Lexus blows the Boxster's away. I bet the Lexus handles just as well if not better than the Boxster. The Lexus is a bit bigger than the Boxster which would help being it would be my only vehicle (the back seat is just big enough to put groceries or such in - not passengers really).

I'm not interested in a Honda S2000.

The lexus does not handle near on par with the boxster.

Boxsters are MR go-karts. They handle like they're on rails. Blast to drive.

the lexus is hard topped convertable isn't it? that tends to mean its far heavier than a soft top. how bout the bmw 330ci convertable? :D

Although I can't really stand either car...if I was forced to choose I would take the Boxster.

Also, the interior of the Boxster is FAR better than that of the Lexus. The tacky wood needs to go...seriously. The Porsche's is far superior in every way.

or how bout a convertable vette?

Nah, I wouldn't buy a Vette. I'm looking for something classy and sporty in the 30-35k range.

I'd probably get a Audi TT if they weren't so....gay. :bleh:

That Lexus Sc430 just screams "Im a middle-aged man having a midlife crisis" to me.

It makes a pathetic attempt to look sporty, but really is just an old-fogey car made to be plush and smooth in disguise.

Since when is it bad to have a plush and smooth vehicle? As far as I'm concerned, luxury/sports cars are the best in the world. Especially the Infiniti M.

Anyways, I just gotta ask... Why white? Black is so much better.

Also, the Pebble Beach edition of the Lexus SC is flat out amazing. Try to find one... Red leather interior.

I don't do plush and smooth, that's for old people. I want a suspension so finetuned and rough that I can feel the paint thickness on the lines of the road when doing a lane change. I want the car to shake and scream when the throttle is depressed. I don't even want to hear some crappy stereo, the throaty exhaust bellowing out back and filling the cabin with a bassy roar is acoustical perfection. I want direct, precise shifts so that I can feel everything and not all the vibrations dampened with a handful of rubber pushings making it feel like a slushbox. Forget underbody coatings and car insulation to dull the road noise, I want to hear the road surface talk to me.

In other words, your talking to the wrong guy when it comes to luxury/performance. Plush and smooth is the devil!!!

I'm with you on this one. But white is becoming (or already is actually) REALLY popular again. I'm not surprised to see people going for it, but it means I will have a hard time finding a used car to buy that I like in a few years from now. Brand new cars are for people with decent jobs :bleh:

White is :bleh:

It shows the dirt and I dunno I see so many fat chicks driving white Grand Ams...

:(

i would go with the lexus. i don't what that guy is thinking, but the boxter's interior is nowhere near the lexus'.

the lexus in black is truly gorgeous. the funny thing about that car is in some colors it's just amazing, while in others, it's kinda meh. also, i know this is just opinion, but i see more girls driving boxters. they're kinda the low-end porsche the chicks dig.

oh yeah... s2000 is psshh. can't compare them.

I do not own one, but drove one 1200 miles from Columbus OH to Naples FL and drove it all that week.

Its an awesome car for sure. It is definately more plush than the boxter interior. The motor has abundent low torque. It rarely downshifts on the highway, even when passsing. Though its handling may not be as taught as the boxter, it is not a rolly poly suspension. In fact, Id say its even more rough than my TL Type S....

Hope that helps!
