Amps and Subs

Heya fellas, I'm about to pick up an amp and a sub or two for my Tahoe.

I've been out of the car audio loop for awhile. My last setup was 4 Rockford punch 8"s with a 150w Rockford amp and a Pioneer headunit. These sounded quite nice in a box behind the seat of my truck.

I'd like to either run one 12 or maybe 2x 8"s or 2x 10"s.

I'm on a budget here, so I'd like to keep costs as low as possible. I have an Alpine hu already. After looking at Crutchfield.com, I could get a Punch P4002 amp, 2 Punch 10"s and a box for the tens for like $329 shipped.

Circuitcity has a Pioneer 800w amp for $179 (same cost as the punch above) but I have a $50 giftcard for them so it would only be $129.

The punch specs show 400w RMS x1 bridged output at 4ohms (stable)The pioneer shows 250w RMS x1 at 4ohms (I would assume bridged it would be 500w?)

Anyways can anyone here recommend something good for less $?

Well.... give this place a shot. www.judysdeals.com awsome place for nice subs for cheap. Plus they have nice enclosures for cheap. They have huge amps too.... but i cant comment on quality because i never used most of they ones they list.

wish i knew much about that stuff, the only "system" i ever had came in my 88 RX7, and i transferred it to 2 other cars afterwards lol, and then it got stolen... and my pathfinder has a mp3/cd player, but nothing fancy with the rest of the stereo

Rockford punch= horrible crappy speakers. One of the worste speakers Rockford ever made. Very disapointed in them. They got big and went cheap on production while raising the prices.

If your looking for a good mid try JBL or Audiobahn.

Amps...RF latest amps are better than there punch series. I truly recomend staying clear of the punch series....again horrible horrible line. They had many issues with cones popping off, speaker blowing for no aparent reason, and ripping of surround and poor sound quality. Oh and the amps them selfs going out without a cause.

Another great set is Kickers...amazing quality while abble to handle allot of what ever you throw at them. If your going with an 8" for a bit of mid bass place it in a tube. You will get the most out of it there.

Good Luck
