AMD's Radeon version of DLSS is called FSR and due out this year

Ya 200 gigs I didnt keep it long... Looking forward to more complete tech demos on UE5. Its truly next gen.

I can't wait to try it.

I'm almost certain that a little bit of a good sharpening filter will rain in allot of the blur. What an odd state of graphics we are in

Yeah I already run Nvidia sharpening.

It is strange even my mate who is pc master race is starting to look at a series x or ps5 because of the ridiculous pricing of pc parts now:nuts:

480 not supported. RIP me

EDIT: just read the thread properly and 480 is supported! YAY happy dance

here is the difference with DLSS in terms of support and long term growth. It is an OPEN standard meaning people can look at modify and improve the code and the methods and gte it baked into the standard to improve it for everyone. and with larger studios on board that have inhouse engines that can actually put research into improvements I am more excited about the future of FSR.

TBH I don't own any of the 7 games it launches with or any of the 12 coming soon either. Of the 44 game developers I've only heard of four of them. Don't get me wrong if a game launches and it works on my 3090 I'll enable FSR without a doubt. It's free so great.

I also own an XseriesX and EA seem to be the only developer that supports FSR that I play games on. Again I'll use it if available but think it might take a while to get mass adoption. Just my 2 C's.

I think its little painful that CP2077 isnt on the radar yet but Im sure itll come at some point. They are just probably too swamped dealing with bugs with another recent patch at 600 megs worth to implement it for now...

Epic doesn't need to... They developed their own take with AMD's input called TSR (Temporal Super Resolution) for UE5 that is also hardware and platform agnostic...

The actual performance of the FSR is very good indeed. AMD is not bragging.

Performance mode does make the image look bad, and I don't recommend it.Upside-down face

No surprise there. Itll be quality mode or none at all for me.

And what about the image quality ? Do you have any information ?

Be satisfactory enough.

Vegeta is a big leaker so looks like its nowhere as near as bad as dlss 1.0.

FSR seems fine. Definitely an improvement over running at native lower resolutions, and the performance boost is well appreciated.

The big issue is at timestamp 11:10:

I can see them adding TAAU in version 2.0 or whatever they will call it. And even motion vectors. The one thing we might never see is AI with ml previous image sampling that needs those tensor cores.

We might actually. nVidia accelerates it using Tensor cores, but it's not necessarily needed. Control launched with DLSS 1.9 and it didn't use them at all, while getting perfectly great performance boosts. Yes 2.0 looks better than 1.9, but it proves the point that it can be done without tensor cores. Pre-trained AI's are generally not very performance intensive.

MLID said that FSR proves you dont need tensor cores so you might be right... Will be interesting to see how both dlss and fsr evolve tho and if tensor cores are eventually made good use of...

Id like just one AAA game they could test with both. With FSR working OOTB on everything at least as old as Maxwell on nvidia it behooves to think amd worked so hard for so long to make it that easy for it to work day one on so much hardware so well. It makes nvidia look bad on one front but adds a feature to RTX gpus in the same vein.

And it really looks like its entirely gameside for it to work so far, tho the latest amd driver might have some optimizations we arent aware of yet. Maybe the game with FSR updates the driver and or api?

More I read about this the more my mind is blown... this feature works seemingly flawlessly on full range of generations of gpus going back almost a decade. Day one. They just ran it on the igpu of intel 11k gen...

Ironically UE5 TSR, among other technologies, is developed with guidance from AMD I read somewhere.
