AMD seem recently to have removed any links to these from the Download Centre, which now only refers to graphics drivers. Is this deliberate? I did find a page by hunting all over the AMD site, but if users want the RAID drivers etc. it's not very helpful!
(First, apologies if this happens to be old news for you...!...
)
You realize that when you install the latest Catalyst gpu driver suite, you update all of your chipset drivers at the same time...? Although the gpu drivers may be updated with every new version, regular chipset driver updates are few and far between--you get the latest chipset driver versions with the latest WHQL or beta drivers automatically, though.
Just for fun I updated the "chipset drivers" which provided me with 3.7.1540.43 AHCI & RAID drivers--from the "chipset driver" page. Then I updated by reinstalling the 14.7 rc1 gpu Cats, and wound up with the 3.7.1540.43 drivers all over again.
I always install gpu drivers using the "custom" install option (not the Express option) because before the install commences the routine
lists all of the AMD drivers detected in the system, be they gpu drivers or just chipset drivers, and allows you to pick & choose among them--what you want to install or don't want to install, etc. The only thing I don't select for installation generally is the Raptor program, because that's just plain redundant...
Yea, but if you don't use the "custom" install option when you install a new Catalyst suite, you won't see the listing for the chipset drivers your system makes use of, and so naturally might think you need to go elsewhere to obtain the chipset drivers separately.
I'm not really sure why AMD even bothers with a separate "chipset driver" page anymore, although I know that AMD's USB 3.0 support is only found in the newer APU chipsets, so that might be why--although the APU Catalyst releases for APU chipsets (A88X, etc.) contain the same chipset drivers--but of course the older chipsets like the 970a and the 990fx, etc., don't provide any AMD USB 3.0 support. In my 970a system the driver is provided by the USB3.0 vendor--ASMedia.
It is
way past time for AMD to update the AM3+ 9xx chipsets with PCIe3.x and usb3...way past time for a desktop Steamroller AM3+ 6/8-core cpu, too--but that's another issue...
