AMD Catalyst 13.3 BETA 3

nice stuff!

Too bad Amazon screwed up on my latest dispatch, so Tomb Raider wasn't delivered due to broken box and dvd.
While they re-dispatched Crysis3, I have to reorder TR and wait another week! Can't believe I keep having this s**t happen

/rant

Wanna try these out!

Thread stuck, added cavemans post to original post.

CCC stopped working after I put these on. Uninstalled the install manager + amd stuff and CCC still thought it was installed (but didn't work). Tried uninstall twice and it said it installed successfully both times. But CCC still didn't work

Resorted to AMD cleanup util, it properly removed CCC, installed these and CCC now works.

Still getting the BSOD when deactivating the Generic_upnp monitor in device manager.

Don't ask why I do this. Its only a easy way to reproduce another problem :(uninstalling the driver do the BSOD) but the cause seem to be when the monitor get disabled / uninstall / detach.

Happens with a Asus G73JH-A1

The "enhancements" stopped working in PS6.

edit: When enabling opengl again and trying to open any file, the program crashes.

This was one of the main reasons I switched from Nvidia to AMD, endless Beta's with few real complete drivers. Except in Nvidia's case their official driver was their worst driver! Always a half fix for one item and other items not working or broken. Now AMD is doing the same :( . To play latest games -> you need the beta's -> game plays other items not!

Sounds like your system is plagued by the same problem I've had. There are two .dll's that get protected and won't let me delete them straightaway. I have to reboot into Safemode, rename the .dll to .xxx (or anything else), boot back into Windows normally and then I can delete them.

Doing as I've done now for nearly a year, I had no problem getting CCC to start up...although the first time was a bit slow...about 20 seconds. Subsequently it came up nearly instantly.

I only now got these installed and haven't proceeded to do any testing as yet.

Quick Tomb Raider test:

13.2 Beta 7:

1920x1200 ultimate settings (TressFX Enabled)

min fps: 4.0
max fps: 110.0
avg fps: 92.6

13.3 Beta 2:

1920x1200 ultimate settings (TressFX Enabled)

min fps: 75.5
max fps: 108.7
avg fps: 91.0

13.2 beta 7

3800x1920 ultimate settings (tress FX enabled)

min fps: 4.3
max fps: 44.7
avg fps: 36.9

13.3 Beta 2:

3800x1920 ultimate settings (tress FX enabled)

Her hair behaves normally now, no artifacts or bouncing around like crazy.

ok yeah, going back to 13.2 beta 7's. these crash after 5-10 minutes of gameplay in far cry 3. also custom application profiles seem to be broken, settings not sticking. opengl is broken too

holy cow! That's a big jump for min fps! Good thing about AMD improved the Radeon 7000 series latency!

oh, be sure report it to AMD Catalyst driver feedback.

the far cry 3 crashing i think was from radeonpro. i disabled that and no more crashing. opengl is definitely screwed up though

I also have random crashing in far cry 3 using 2-way crossfire 7970s using this driver set, 1080p, Ultra settings, no msaa, SSAO.

Performance in this game is in another league compared to the Beta 7s though.

I have no tweaking software loaded.

I noticed no jump in performance for Tomb Raider 2013 going to these new Beta drivers but the hair bug is gone.

I have for the first time resorted to overclocking my 7970 for an extra 5-10 fps that keeps my minimum frame rate above 30 95% of the time.

I just find it hard to believe that with all the gpu power this card has I actually have to overclock it to get 30-50 fps. Most of the GPU's rendering struggles seems to be with her hair (tressfx) which is a cool effect and although it does not improve gameplay I refuse to disable it. I don't know why I am being stubborn about it.

2560x1440 Ultra everything exept for using FXAA, No SSAO and I keep shadows on Normal instead of Ultra. Everything else is maxed and it is playable. So no real complaints.. just that I think a driver optimization is hopefully in the works. Or maybe this compute technology needs to be more optimized because as of right now it is a massive resource hog.

The hair tressfx uses directcompute, so GPU will have to work harder to render heavily. It might explains it why its struggle with the hair tressfx.

I don't know, I bought 7870 last December and the things are not good at all. For 4 months I've been writing to forums and AMD about troubles with Photoshop CS6 not been able to use OpenCL with their drivers and now Photoshop doesn't work at all!! For games it's bad news also, GTA IV & Episodes From Liberty City very poor performance and stuttering all the way!

So come on AMD I like your hardware but I cannot use it!!!

I play many indies now on my modded 6950...
Seems 7000 series is kinda unstable versus 6000 series...1 year and something and still they discover all sorts of problems...Maybe because is new architecture (GCN) vs old 6000 architecture that already was mature...The 8000 series, if it's the same GCN-derived should go smoothly ...
