With the release of the AMD Catalyst™ 12.6 Beta driver (“Catalyst”), AMD would also like to announce that we are moving away from our Monthly Catalyst release plan. Our goal is to ensure that every Catalyst release delivers a substantial benefit to our end users; as we have today with the release of the Catalyst 12.6a Beta. We will still continue with the Catalyst naming convention; Catalyst: Year.Month. You just won’t see a new driver every single month. We are confident that this will only benefit the end user; you’ll only need to upgrade to a new Catalyst driver, when it makes sense.

We would also like to announce the introduction of our new AMD Issue Reporting Form. We made a number of improvements to the older Catalyst Crew Feedback form, making it more comprehensive, ensuring high quality feedback. Feedback is very important in every product company’s life, especially in our fast paced environment. This is not just a check-box for us – we take these reports very seriously. We will review every report posted here and investigate every issue encountered. Please use this form whenever you encounter something worth mentioning.

Great, the new driver is already public, I hope Eyefinity tearing is fixed in all cards, keep reporting guys.

If you try the Skyrim beta with these when using Crossfire you may encounter some strange issues (like a yellow screen when pressing escape for example)

The none beta version of Skyrim works OK though.

If you have stuttering with Vsync enabled and Diablo 3 you should use the dirt3*.exe profile via the CCC Crossfire profiles.

So are WHQL drivers still only going to show using AMD's front page drop downs, and we'll have to dig into the bowels of there site to get betas (not counting rage3d's coverage)?

When i use that method i get 12.4's, but interestingly enough below those are the 12.6beta cap1's

Thanks caveman-jim & Treeckcold57, looks like it's time to upgrade, but to what?! :(

I mean it has been good 10 years ride with Ati/Amd, but this, I don't like. And God knows what nVidia preparing with their already bad drivers...

I'd like to point out that I'm having this issue using the OpenCL 1.2 preview drivers as well, so I guess it is a problem with the Skyrim beta after all.

Thread stickied.

And definitely raising an eyebrow on not having monthly releases....

This might not be the change I was waiting/hoping for, although I partially agree - and have said so before - with the "less frequent - more efficient" strategy nonetheless.

The point is, will it really happen?

I'll definitely wait and see, but if AMD doesn't get any better at getting things straightened out with their software I might seriously consider Nvidia, if nothing at least because they seem to be delivering substantial improvements in the form of performance increases and driver features aimed at a better gaming experience, along with seemingly faster support for new titles.

I'm discouraged by personal experience and have seen a lot of complaining lately, much more than I can remember.

I sincerely hope for AMD to show they can still kick ass in the software department, but I'm not willing to blindly follow them if I feel they are failing my expectations.

Interesting news. Looks like Windows 7 + Nvidia is going to be a choice for the next at least 2-3 years until Microsoft releases Windows 9 and hopefully they come to senses otherwise will go into Linux + Nvidia. Who would guess that after so many years of computing i would ditch Microsoft, AMD, and ATI.

I was running into this issue lately on my 4850 equipped HTPC. Glad to see that there's a fix. Not so glad to find out that the driver set doesn't support 4850.
