AMD 16.9.2 Catalyst Drivers 9/21/16

When you switch on freesync in the drivers and your monitor all top end freesync monitors can display a counter in the top right hand of the screen that shows you the frame rate when free sync is working. It's a good indicator of how free sync is working and works well with games and benchmarks like heaven and the valley. In the desktop the counter should remain at your monitors refresh rate as in my case 144. With this bug the counter is all over the place and the screen flickers when free sync shouldn't be on! As I've said AMD have acknowledged it as a bug in some drivers so it's obviously not a monitor defect but a driver issue. Even Spyre has acknowledged it as such.

They need to fix it and when they do stop breaking it again in future driver releases.

Well, I have the BenQ XL2730Z (2560X1440), and it doesn't have any such counter, and it is by no means low end or midrange.

Many free sync monitors don't support their full refresh rate (144hz in my case) of their monitor when using free sync, where my BenQ does (TN panel). many only go up to 90-100Hz when using free sync (IPS panel, usually).

Maybe that is why I don't have any such issues, and those that do, their monitor doesn't support the full 144Hz in free sync and could be part of what is causing the bug. Something that they may want to look into. Just a thought.

my display doesnt have a freesync counter either(acer x34) I have to go into the displays osd to check on fs status

There should be a framerate counter, at least the Predator X34 has it, I can't see why it would be exclusive to the GSYNC version.

I need the sliding scaling option returned.

On my 4K screen, if I select 60 Hz, the image gets enlarged beyond the screen and I have no way to reduce it to fit the way things are.

At present, I have to live with 30 Hz in order for the screen to fit properly.

If this sliding scale is somewhere hidden, would someone please provide the way to get to it?

I only have preset options. There's no sliding scale like in the old CCC. And, in the Additional Settings, it's also missing.

In the Display tab of the main driver, the only slider I have is for Color Temperature.

Very strange for sure, I'll take a screenshot when I get home.

Not sure if this makes a diff but my primary display hooked up via dp has color temp but no scaling option. My tv display has the hdmi scaling slider but no color temp

My 4K screen is my HDTV connected via DP adapter and set as my Main Screen.
My other three screens are identical ViewSonic 24 inch LCDs all connected via DVI-D.

All show only the Color Temperature option.

It appears I may have found a workaround for the HDTV:

Turn OFF GPU Scaling, Set Scaling Mode to Full Panel, and then I can select 60Hz and keep things within the borders. We'll see if it sticks.
