AIW Radeon & shimmering??

This probably belongs in Eman's lengthy shimmering thread (http://www.rage3d.com/forum/ubbhtml/Forum2/HTML/000092.html), but I wanted to try to catch the eye's of those who have the AIW already (sorry for the self centered motives). The AIW that I have had on order has arrived, and I'm afraid to open it!! With the current condition my monitor is in, I'm not even sure if I could discern whether or not I have the issue (see http://www.rage3d.com/forum/ubbhtml/Forum13/HTML/000315.html, and please help if you can!).

Is there anyone out there with an AIW & Trinitron that can report on this issue?

Thanks!

I am sure if the other Radeons shimmer, then the AIW does also. =) I have an AIW but no Trinitron, sorry...hopefully someone else will see this and answer your question. It does depend on your monitor though.

Hi Hawk, thanks for the reply. I'm not so convinced that shimmering in the regular Radeon line means that it will happen in the AIW as well. One of the theories about the shimmering is that it is some type of signal degradation, interference, impedence mis-match, etc., in the analog signal path to the monitor. My understanding is that the regular Radeons don't use the digital out connector & VGA adapter that the AIWs use. This signal path for the two products is different.

I REALLY want to install this card, but I don't really want to go through the hassle of uninstalling my current card, installing the Radeon, then reversing the process if there is a problem. On the other hand, since I alrady have it, I guess it's kinda silly worrying over an issue that might not even be there. If I find myself with some spare time over the weekend, I might have to try it out.

Did you read through the whole thread of eman's post? I am sure one person had an AIW and said something...=) Good luck man.
