i bought the OEM version and it came in yesterday. i thought i would love this thing since it ATI's website says it can capture video through hardware mpeg2 compression, plus its just like a tivo unit, plus its a decent 3d card. but let me tell you what i think about this damn card. i bought it to replace my tnt2 ultra and hauppage winTV-GO. so i took those cards out, put the radeon aiw in, booted into win98, installed the drivers it came with, rebooted. then i installed the newest drivers off the web. the display adapter portion of the card worked fine, but i could not capture video whatsoever, and when i watched tv my machine would crash if i clicked on any other windows or resized the window. i tried everything ati's faq said. i installed webTV for windows, reinstalled directX 7.0a, reinstalled the lateast via 4in1 drivers (for my asus k7v motherboard), reinstalled the newest radeon aiw drivers, but still.. nothing. i proceeded to format and reinstall win98, and did everything again with a fresh installation, but the problems were the same. i am going to see if the card works in win2000 tongight. i am beginning to think the aiw has a problem with my motherboard or something, cuz the video capture will not work AT ALL.

ive got an athlon750 with asus k7v, sb live value, 3com 3c905b. i took out all my other cards to see if they were the problem. anyone else having any problems with this card? or have gotten theirs to work?

well i thought of some more stuff to try, im gonna turn off video bios shadow, and let my card run at agp2x instead of 4x. if only 5pm would roll by sooner.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you are having so much grief :( From what I have read on these forums, people with the Asus A7V generally seem to be OK !

This is going to sound really stupid probably, but the only thing I can think to do is see if there is a recent BIOS upgrade on the Asus Page.

I have an Abit KA7, and back in the day when I had my GeForce, I was getting crashes all the time. Then I realised there were 2 BIOS revisions from my current BIOS. I did the flash, and things improved 300 percent.

Just a thought...

I also have K7V and had problems with the drivers on the cd. The tv would randomly lock up. I had these problems with my Radeon AIW until I installed the beta drivers. The tricky thing is getting them installed correctly.

Uninstall the "older" drivers in add remove programs. Then after a reboot, install the new beta ones. Then go into device manager and check all of your ATI devices under "Sound, video and game controlers" make sure that the drivers are dated around 8-30-00. If not, manually update them.

This was my problem. I have not had a problem with the new betas

I don't recommend turning off bios shadow. When I did that, my comp would not POST. I had to reset my bios to fix it.

ok i will try that when i get off work, thanks alot dude
when you say "beta drivers" what drivers do you mean? im just installing the 3.056 or something from off the ati website.
im using win98, what OS are you running bullet proof legs?

By beta drivers he's referring to the 3063 drivers that can either be grabbed at the front of this site, at the top of the page, or at 3dchipset.com

Even though they're "beta" most people are seeing some significant stability improvements with them.

I think that oughta cover you. Let us know if you need anything else.

well those "beta" drivers did the trick, i was hesitant to install them when i first saw them because they werent labeled for the all in wonder. thanks alot guys.

ps. still doesnt work with 3rd party video capture software. but the ati tv program's vidcap is really good, so thats no big deal.
